Is it just me, or is Red Dead Redemption not as good as we thought it would be?

Sure, the first week we all had it was the best week ever. It felt amazing. Everything was new to us, everything was fun and hilarious. But now thats its been out for almost a month. Its quite boring.

Free Roam is boring.

"Wanna hunt bears again?" "Nah."

"Wanna jump off that cliff again for fun?" "Nah."

"Wanna kill some cops?" "Nope."

"Wanna kill our donkeys?" "Not fun anymore."

"Wanna do some gang hideouts?" "No its boring."

And I never thought the competitive multiplayer was fun. It got old within the first week. It wasnt fun at all for me.

And im done with the single player. I never have a desire to play it now for some reason. I still have some stuff to do in it, but theres no desire to go back and do it.

Am I the only one here that thinks it got old?

It got old, but it was still a very good game. We'll see what the DLC brings.

it was never really that great to begin with. I hate rockstar for making the sequel just another crappy gta clone instead of a sequel more in the vein of it's predecessor

I agree with this. I was lookin forward to this game ever since they announced it way back when, but it was pretty dissapointing. Oh, and watch out for the Rockstar fanboys who mosey their way over here.

yeah iv not really played it since i finished the story either,

free roam could be great, but its spoilt by random guys shooting you when you are trying to complete challenges, very annoying

I don't think DLC can save it from being boring and dull. The basic gameplay is just that way. Pointless to roam unless you like to kill random animals. Shoot, even Fallout 3 and Oblivion had a better free roam feel to it. While games like Borderlands and Just Cause 2 just stomp it in the ground so far that they unearth it in China.

Amen brother. I dumped mine on ebay after 10 days. Clunky player movement and awful gunplay did me in.

I agree. Since finishing the campaign I have little desire to play it anymore. I'll eventually get the 100% achievement. After that I really have no reason to touch it again. I wish the competetive multiplayer was more compelling but I find it very bland. Free-roam was fun for a few days but that too has become bland and boring.

Thats what happened when I played GTAIV.... It was fun for a little while but after that it was just terrible. After my experience with that I am never playing a Rockstar game again.

I expected RDR to be the same, and it seems I was correct.

Well, the multiplayer was a fresh idea and got old really fast. But the single player campaign is something I can play through a couple of more times and really enjoy. i thought the gunplay was always a blast because the weapon sounds had so much punch. I also just got a new Turtle Beach headset and this game has awesome sound.

Yup, it got old surprisingly quick.

After completing the story to the very end I've got little reason to play it any further. I can't be bothered to stab some wolves in the face to get a hunter rank, it's all "meh". Strange how many reviewers were saying "it's not GTA in the Wild West", when in fact it really is. "Go to point A and kill some dude" is done over and over again to the point where I almost fell asleep. And the characters were/are very dull, although I thought West-Dickins was pretty good. Your choices as to whether to be a bad guy or a good guy don't affect the game in any major way either, which is really dissapointing considering all the attention R* were giving to your "moral dilemas".

The not-so-random "random encounters" aren't all they were hyped up to be either. It's also strange that RDR is better than GTA IV, and yet I had fun for longer playing GTA than I did playing RDR :?

And yeah, the multiplayer is really stale; I got bored of it after the first week.

Maybe this is the problem with pre-release hype...

Not boring to me and i got it on day 1 and it im still loving it.

Hunting animals and skinning them never gets old (:

And online with my cousin its really fun to do the missions, also the new DLC thats coming up could really add alot more to online mode with friends aswell.

Better then GTA IV in every way possible imo.

I agree with every one of those statements actually. The only thing I even slightly enjoy now is multiplayer. The game got boring once I beat the campaign. The game just isn't the same after the ending. :(

I never got into multiplayer in the first place, I got this game for the single player campaign and it delivered 110% over my expectations. My only gripe: you die in water. I can see myself gladly replaying RDR in a just few months.

Looks like quite a few people who say they got bored of it, spent most of their time in online modes. The main focus of your enjoyment in a game like RDR is supposed to come from the SP mode, playing it by yourself. If you don't like playing SP you probably shouldn't have bought RDR. I loved RDR's SP mode. Never really bothered with any of the online modes. I don't really like online in any game TBH. Halo 3 and PES are about the only games I can put up with playing online.

I have to agree with you there OP. The game just got old quick. Heck, Im not even that far in the Campaign and Im just bored with it for some reason, yeah, call me weird. The Multiplayer was good in the first match, then after that, people were spawn killing me on Free Roam, which got me mad, and never got back in the game since. I may come back to it, but It's not my cup of tea to be quite honest. It was a good game for a day, for me, but after I took it out of my console that day, I never came back to the game since. For the person that likes to RUIN someones day in the Multiplayer in RDR, seriously man, grow the heck up. People like you is the reason why Multiplayer gaming sucks these days.

You say it got old quick. How many hours did you put into the single player? Atleast 20+ hrs, i think now and days thats more than enough to satisfy most gamers. For me it took about 40 hours just to finish the single player. Just saying that compared to other games at the same price range, you cant complain if you got a good 20+hours of solid gameplay.

I really liked RDR. I still am liking it after a few weeks of playing it. I don't even have multiplayer but I still find new ideas to try in single player. When I've gotten all the achievements and 100% completion then I'll probably start a new file to have a go at things differently.

I think the single player is great. The online for me is what got boring fast. The Free Roam is boring because you can't really do anything besides gang hideouts. The competitive modes were just garbage. I've never seen a bigger campfest in my life. You basically have to crouch and move around like your in Splinter Cell just to avoid being shot down by like 5 people camping on rooftops. I always did good in the matches, but they just weren't any fun because all I found myself doing was sneaking up on campers the whole time.

I didn't really have my expectations set or anything. I can't complain. It's a fun game. I haven't hardly played the multiplayer yet though. Just renting so I probably wont get to play it much. The worst that I can say is that it just feels alot like GTA IV. Nothing wrong with that though, GTA IV was a great game. It's just that I'm surprised to see how it feels so familiar right out of the gate.

Yeah I know how you feel. I got through the SP in about 15 hours and it didn't take long to reach level 50 on multiplayer. Every time my friends and I would join a gang shootout game it would separate us or it would be 3 vs 2 games and no one would join. The only enjoyment my friends and I get from it now is joining random free roam lobbies and just kill other players for the heck of it. Some people get competitive so the shootouts are pretty fun for everyone. No one is safe though. lol

Haven't played RDR in a while now. :P

I can't say I really agree but thats probably because I force myself to. Every time animals attack me I make sure to skin them, My loot senses tingle every time I see something dead in that game and I have to stop and skin animals or loot dead human bodies if I find them. That includes dead horses from bandit attacked carriages. It just feels like a waste to leave it all there, yet ironically I don't really do anything with the loot. I've sold some if it but that was like once.

Maybe the multiplayer due to lack of any real depth, but the single player has me going, so much to do even after beating the game it's insane, and fun too.

Yes, some things got old but right now I am making RDR a stealth game, this game makes fro a really good stealth game suprisingly, covor mechanics and the ability to silently cut people throats is nice.

everyone has their own opinion, but if you think this game is stupid, you must have pretty high standards bc RDR is amazing
