I love the kids that trash talk and say stuff like "I'm going to destroy you (insert gamertag)" or put your clan tag as thier own as if they are gunning for you and then they can't deliver. And why do people have to sing and scream into the mic. If I ever caught my kid doing that I'd slap him upside the head and then take his mic away from him.

I disagree, I've only had to leave a game a handful of times over the past couple of months because of annoying chat. I'm more likley to leave a game if it's too silent.

Or if they beat you. Or if you don't have a gamertag that pleases them. Or if you don't use just the right character model in multiplayer... Well, you're gonna get *****ed at on Live no matter what you do.

I have had Live since day one and I agree. Playing Mech Assault people laughed and had fun even when they lost. It was a new experiece that started going downhill with Halo2. I couldn't believe the things ppl said. I grew up when making some prank calls was the closest thing to this kind of anonymity. I now more often than not I just don't use the mic unless I am private chatting with friends.

The new party system basically does away with the rampant trash talk by allowing youto talk with only your friends

That's why these hugely popular shooters aren't as good as they could be. I've been on XBL since Crimson Skies, and all of these annoying people really started a few months after Halo 2 released. Since they've moved on to Halo 3 and MW and Gears, other than those games it's pretty fine and more like it was back in the Crimson Skies days (Burnout used to have the best XBL community).

While it is good to have the option to party chat, I'd prefer to be able to be in public chat with cool people. It's not that most people are trash talkers, it's that most people don't talk because of the trash talkers. So, the trash talkers are the only people you hear from in public chat.

cool people talking>quiet>stupid people talking

I just wish more cool people used their mics like they did back when the 360 was first launched, and before all the annoying people from Halo2 moved over to the 360.

its because old xbox u had to go out and buy a mic, this one u get it free with the console, so before people had to make a effort to pay for live and buy all the kit to talk etc, these days it comes with the package. so people that wouldnt of had their parents get them mics have them now.

I haven't run into too many bad people in XBL even in recent times. Halo 3 has the most of the worst people, if you ask me. I play a lot of Left 4 Dead and I haven't had to put up with that many bad people.

Not disagreeing, because i agree, but i think that you are being a bit sterocrytical because there are some good kids out there who just have their mics unplugged for the same reason as us. And i'm not one of those trash talking 12 years olds, im older too

Little children and annoying teenagers are the reason why I only keep my mic on when I'm playing Team Fortress 2. I've only ran into one screaming idiot on that game, and all the little kids I've teamed up with actually acted mature, of course I'm usually in a party with my friends anyway so it doesn't make too much of a difference.

I think this whole 'XboxLive is nothing but immature kids!'-idea is greatly exaggerated. I'll come across maybe one unbearable gamer a day at most. I'd say the large majority of people playing games are pleasant enough to talk to if you make an effort to speak up. Some people just dont want to talk, and thats fine, I get that way, too, but many others are typically up for it. In fact, I think its gotten more to the point where people dont want to speak up thats become the problem. Good conversation doesn't start on its own, it requires people to actually start it.

Granted, I dont play Halo 3, so that community may be worse than I realize, but I do play Call of Duty 4 and World at War.

You're right, I didn't mean to give the impression that I believe all young people on xbox live are annoying. It's just that the annoying ones often fit in they're age group.

I also understand that the really young kids actually have it much worse than I do, cuz I've heard adults up in their mid twenties cussing out young kids not because the kid was causing trouble, but because the adults just don't want the little kids in the game/conversation. Of course that was back when people talked

why theirs more squeeky children on line now is because there prants have bought the games and xbox for them. The NXE is absolutly mint compared to what it used to be (i'll add). the community is genrally good just stop playing COD 4 or halo. for instance on halo wars you i've never heard a trash talking person

I guess. I started in 2007 and it's the same now as it is then. Except with the new party system not as many people talk, because they're all in parties. And GRAW 2 is the only game I've played where there literally aren't any little kids screaming. To this day it holds that record, for me at least.

Actually I keep my mic on all the time. When someone starts to trash talk for no reason I just mute them. It is worth it when you run across the ocasional decent person, and it's nice to talk to those people and add them to your friends list. Most people that trash talk are either teenagers or college students that are too drunk to know better and have a need to show off their masculinety (No offence to you college students that don't get wasted every other night). Being a teenager myself I try not to bring such a bad name to our generation and I usually stay silent unless someone worth talking to comes along.

I was just thinking about when I first logged onto xbox live. The first game I played online was Call of Duty 2, and I was so surprised by the diversity of people that you could talk to. There were people of all ages and genders, and except for the occational trash talking teen or child, everyone was really pleasant and fun to talk to.

Now it seems that all of the rude teens and annoying kids have caused all of the respectful adults and females, who want to actually have nice conversations, to leave their mics out of their controllers.

It's a real shame. Most xbox live games are either completely quiet, or just have one or two annoying teens yelling at unresponsive players.

NewShire

I didn't have xbox live back then, but I understand what you mean about the annoying people screaming at people that are doing certain stuff. I usually just leave my mic unplugged, but sometimes I plug it in because my parents don't want to hear the foul language coming from the TV Speakers.

I remember exactly what your talking about, I first got online with Halo 3, when it first came out. Its changed AWHOLE lot since those days, it was so fun to realize I was talking to people from Japan to Africa, and now...everyone online have not seem to hit puberty or just wiseguys who think they are the IT. I was just playing Call of Duty 4 today, some guy who was 10 prestige, kept talking about how good he was...until I mashed him 2 times in a row, he was like..."You think I was trying? I have a whole class that will end you!". Than short after, I had a beautiful ending...I pressed the power button. =)

360 XBL was always terrible since I started.

I remember the good ole Xbox Live days with Halo 2 when you never meet kids with squeeky voices, and if you did...

BOOM! HEADSHOT!

I think all games have different communities with different attitudes. Halo 3 definitaly has the most immature and screechy users. Gear of War 2 swear too much, Call of Duty goers like to talk about how great they are. I think the only game with good people on it is Team Fortress.

Well it depends on the game you play. I remember playing Rainbow Six Vegas and Fear and never really having a problem with the community.

I've been playing xboxlive since the first moto gp and rainbow six 3. THOSE were the days! Haven't changed my name or canceled my subscription since then either. That's almost 7 straight years haha.
