Well im a african female and I find this game racist
sometimes its good to throw gasoline on the fire...
its only racist if u make it.
and thats it.
im a mexican and i never found any tom clancy games racist.
This is so stupid. Where was all the racism crap when a white guy was killing spaniards? At least capcom isn't discriminating and using nearly all the races as zombies...there have been white zombies (ALMOST ALL OF THEM AND IF YOU KILL WHITE PEOPLE IT'S OK WTF?), hispanic zombie-like people, and I don't know what the people in africa are going to be (zombies or possed by something or whatever) but it shouldn't freaking matter.
For the last Resident Evil games, no one shouted "It's racist!" when they were killing white people in the city. When people were playing Resident Evil 4, no on shouted "Racism!" when they were killing natives in South America (Or where ever it is).
Now Resident Evil 5 is in Africa, and then people shout "Racist!" How is it racist? Because it's being realistic to location? You're in Africa, so expect there to be Africans. Not white people.
And when people pull the "White guy shooting black people" Maybe you should look closer to the storyline. Ever thought that Redfield is there, looking for his sister, or looking for someone else, instead of just killing black people?
Maybe they should of replaced all of the black people in AFRICA with white people so it won't be racist.
It's common knowledge that killing white people isn't racist

couldnt have said it better myself.
Actually some people did call it racist. I didn't say it was racist I was just wondering why all the fuss?imafreshman
Because it's a white guy killing black people, and for some reason that isn't ok with some people.
It's just a game. I seriously doubt Capcom made this game with the intent to be racist. It's a game in Africa, common knowledge tells you there's going to be Africans. People don't need to make this a race issue, even though a few will.
I'm Mexican, and I'm not offended in Tom Clancy games when the military invades Mexico and kills Mexicans. It's not intended to be racist, so everyone should chill8)

I'm pretty sure no one here at Gamespot seriously thinks this game is racist....it's just that people who don't play games don't know what to think. They think crap like the game is a tool for racism and stuff like that without even giving the game a chance.

Yeah I can see how people that don't play games would see RE5 and think about racism.
This is crap , and anyone who thinks this game is racist needs to go kill them selfs , i didnt think San Andreas was racist when i killed white cops with a black lead character , i didnt think 50 cent bullet proof was racist when 90% of that $#!t game was killing white people. The only people who are racist are the ones complaining that the game is. and no im not a racist but facts are facts , and if these people care now , they would have cared when all you did in Resident Evil 4 was kill spanish people. Wake up , its a game. And people who still see colors need help.
If the game is based in an African Village then i don't see what the big deal is. What would be racist is if you only killed white zombies in an African Village.sk8jim
The people who are looking at it as racism with this gameare also the same people that would jump up and down screaming that their race isn't good enough to be used in games. Why aren't there more black, asian, hispanic, whatever....games.They find fault with everything. You don't have to look too hard at anything to create some social issue for ones own agenda. This is a game! The way I look at it.....ALL zombies must die!camian69
Guys...Look not everyone thinks alike. We all perceive things differently. We should not be afraid to ask the hard questions. We all have different points of view and different experiences.
When racism is discussed there are people who vehemently deny that it exists. Guess what it does, but not always consciously. Oprah recently aired a show where she had done surveys or tests that proved people were unaware of their prejudices and how they thought about other cultures.
I think this Resident Evil 5 thing is getting out of hand but that's not to say that racism does not exist elsewhere.

Its not racist you dummies. You all realize that they made this in Japan right? The Japanese made this. Since when have Japanese been known to have a problem with africans? never! Its not like they ever had a settlement in Japan by Africans. Also, if someone really wants to pull the race card, i could just say that any game made in Japan (ex. RE 1-4) where white guys get killed makes the Japanese racists, because they obviously hate us for killing so many of their people in world war 2... NNNOOOOO!!! That just isnt the reason why, but it could actually be a more likely story than the new one being racist towards blacks. If they really wanted to do that, they would make the main character asian, and all the enemies if they were realyl trying to convey a racist message.
So all of you accusing the game of racism, then what do you have to say about US soldiers during Black Hawk Down Operation, killing Africans. Were they racist? Of Course not (well i mean i guess they coulda been, but it was part of their duty in saving their comrade behind enemy lines).
So everyone stop fussing about it. Racism is out of the question since white people didnt make it.
And for those of you who want racism to stop, stop accusing everyone of being racist on every whim or hint of color. Nobody is trying to insult anyone. When you bring it up as a problem, you are starting the problem all over again and completely destroying any progress made in so called actions of getting rid of raciscm.

Thank you for your even tempered response. Being angry only clouds a valid issue and question.[QUOTE="killerfist"][QUOTE="trystkl1826"]Guys...Look not everyone thinks alike. the bad thing is: rasism can't be killed. as long as we live in multicultured counties with different peopleand backgroundswe will encounter racism one way or another. the only thing we can do is discuss whats happening. but not over a game like RE. don't kill capcoms good reputation!
I don't think the issue is stupid. It's a valid conversation as to whether people consider the game racists. The anger is definitely not necessary. You either consider it racist or you do not. Very simple. No need to be extra.[QUOTE="MrBlack81"]this issuch stupid bulls**t, idiot whingers get a life!! if this game gets cancelled coz of this i will cry, RE5 is the reason i bought a X360 in the 1st place.trystkl1826yeah but it is silly though, i mean who cares its just a game, im sure the creators didn't have this in mind

i was just about to talk about that...i'm African and i dont give a crap about it... i mean damn it's just a game! Real ppl are dying all over the place and nobody is saying a damn thing! Resident Evil (Game) comes along and all the sudden everybody cares... Please get ur priority straightened!
To think it is racist that an african town happens to be filled with native Africans is a joke. By saying its racist proves you see yourself as a lesser being, which isnt true.
To many people dwell in the past, looking for sympathy when its not ussually due. If you happen to be an ex-slave, or someone directly effected by it, then yes, an apology by those who commited the act is reasonable. But these days I find most people who cry out about racism tend to be those who were never suspectable to slavery, but see it as a stereo-type that they think they belong to. I get the feeling that some think its cool to be in this group that enjoy thinking their outcasts that get picked on for their skin colour, just like the 'emo' stereo-type, who go out of their way to try & get sympathy.
Skin colour doesnt mean a thing, so stop blowing this out of proportion. As I said earlier, its an african town that just so happens to be filled with African people.
My 2 cents anyways.
People need to relax, quit bit***ng and just enjoy the game. Can't wait til this game comes out. TM1
same here!
This whole issue is as ridiculous as the "master of unlocking" dialog from the first Res game. I love this franchise and would hate to see it dragged down to the negative PR levels experienced recently by games like Manhunt 2.
I totally agree with the majority of comments here surrounding the issue of "Political Correctness" gone mad. It's set in AFRICA. What would be the sensible choice here??? A hoard of 10 foot tarantulas? A 10,000 strong pack of rabid Doberman Pinschers? Or maybe we could kill only white humanitarian aid workers.
Personally I treat people as I find them regardless of creed or colour.
If you are a friend I call you friend.
If you are a d1ck I call you d1ck.
If you're a zombie, then you're clearly part of a fictional form of entertainment that should never be held responsible for societies own evils.
