I'm buying Guitar Hero III with the wireless les paul then I'm going to buy the Rock Band disk to play for guitar only, I don't give a crap about singing or drums.
i would just go with guitar hero 3 because everyone just wants to play the guitar yeah and no one wants to sing. yeah the drums may be cool but at this point its getting expensive i mean how much is all of this stuff going to cost. plus its called rock band for a reason you ouild need people to come and play with you. i would rather just get GH3
Probably Guitar hero III because I know for sure that it will be a good game following the sucess of GH1 and GH2, but if rock band gets good reviews I may get that also.
ill probly eventually get both, but initially i may only get one and my roommate may get the other for ps3.
i'm more concerned as to which guitar to get. the les paul is 90x cooler, but doesnt have those extras that the ugly stratocaster has like solofrets and the reverb switch (or w/e its called). if ur can only use the solo frets during the solos and they dont work in ghIII then i'll definitely get the les paul; otherwise, im stuck with the stratocaster.
in actuality i really just want the white xplorer to have all the rock band extras. that would make it the absolute best. form AND functionality.

actually thats why im scared about both. on one hand u know what gh3 will have, but its by neversoft, so it might not play as well as rock band or gh I&II. on the other hand rock band could sound pretty damn ugly if everybody only gets even 85% on all portions. and neversoft seems to be going for all the big names, but not some of the biggest songs ppl have been asking for, plus who knows how many of the big names they can get; they have the name recognition, but not the legacy harmonix has. meanwhile rock band has mtv behind them and seem to be going after bigger names this time, but then again they might fall back into their "its not about the music, its about the difficulty" lull they fell into while developing gh2, which hurt it considerably. then again we know harmonix loves to stuff extra bonus songs from no name bands in there, some of which are really good like freezepop, drist, and some underground boston bands, not to mention even rats by the slip which aside from boston's 'more than a feeling' mightve been the best song in the entire game! yet, who knows what gh3 will have for extras, or even if they have bonus songs. and this is just the tip of the iceberg regarding the huge list of concerns/questions regarding both.

Harmonix, the dev who made GH1 and GH2 is making Rockband.
Well this is how i see it, Rock Band will be better for this reason, its something weve never truley seen b4, GH3 has no real story which can get boring... and the new blatent advertising by gh3 is kinda the nail in the coffin. HELL NO i dont want a AXE Guitar... or a music video by Pontiac? wWTF IS THAT
im gettin gh3 because i loved gh2 and from what ive heard gh3 is even better than gh2. rock band looks cool but i like gh3's song list better and i don't like that you need a full band for rock band.
Getting both, Im buying Guitar hero 3 on the 23rd(here in europe *cry) and my friend is buying me rock band for christmas, because she wants to sing haha, which i have no problem with =p
I think Guitar Hero is good enough. HOW DORKY ARE YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS GOING TO LOOK PLAYING ALL THOSE FAKE INSTRUMENTS TOGETHER. Also imagine one of your friends singing. If you are going to play instruments together thendont be lazy and learn to play realinstruments.
I agree with the thought that Rock Band, while a cool concept, really is too niche. Not many people have enough nearby nerdy friends willing to drop that kinda money.
At first I had intened to wait and purchased Rock Band then I looked at the Track List for Guitar Hero 3 and could not skip it. It was a great move on my part purchasing guitar hero 3 it is the best of the series, harder then all of them, and alot of fun. Plus teh Les Paul Gibson wireless guitar is sweet and will work on rock band from waht they had said. I would not pass on Guitar Hero 3 its awesome. I went straight to expert like i did with the other two and it has some hard songs. One of which by living color is driving me crazy cause i need to beat it and have tried about 20 times now but cannot finish the stupi solo. lol . Anyways yea i will probably pick up rock band for the drum part of the game but guitar hero is an amazing game.
