The saddest moment in gaming history hasn't occured yet. It might happen though. With people like Jack Thompson out there, complaining and creating a false stereotype for gamers, we all come up with a tighter noose around our neck. There are hundred if not thousands of people waiting for us all to screw up. Since people are out there who would rather do nothing but greif and curse endlessly into their mic, more people will beleive idiots like Jack Thompson.
Eventually, the crap communities in shooters, MMOs and the like will bring the hammer of reality down on games because it will make people who don't accept gaming fear us and become convinced it is defending themselves.
When some guy who already dislikes games hears someone say gamers are killers waiting to happen, they might shrug it off. Then they get online and bump into youtube videos with some nine year old screaming about how he is gonna take a knife to some persons family. Sure this is all in a game, over a mic, but a person who already dislikes change will fear this. Some people who fear are rather powerful. All we need to do is become a loudmouthed enough group to let the government realize the craphole gaming might become and BANG, games can start being treated like cigarettes, maybe even banned entirely in some places.
The saddest day in gaming will be the day all the people talking trash realize there is MANY ways they can be punished for their acts. We all got lucky that Mr. Thompson was a total retard but how lucky can we be? Only as lucky as it takes for someone with a brain and a silver tongue to start to hate on us.
Crisis Core for sure :(n00bkidIm totally adding you, because BMTH is Epic. Anyways, in Metal Gear Solid when I thought
that Snake had killed himself.
Well obviously this thread will have spoilers and this post will be about he Darkness. Anyway the part where you watched Jenny die and there was nothing you could do. A very sad part in the game but it really made the story come to life for me at least.
Probably that. I think, there has to have been something sadder in all the RPGs I have played, but in that case I should remember it. One of the oldest games that I played that made me sad was Ted's death in Suikoden.MGS3, learnig the truth about The Boss made me shed the only tear I've ever shed for a video game.

I agree. That game had a very good story to it, and it really made you feel how estacodo was feeling.

It has by far the best story in a fps that i've seen this gen. One of my best purchases by far. I still play it every once in a while because it's a very fun game.
One of the moments for me happened recently in Gears 2 when Tai shot himself after he got rescued. It was sad because it was so unexpected. I'm sure there are other moments but that one sticks out because it happened so recently.
The Old Soldier Story in Lost Odyssey. The abruptness and way that it is told is so gut-wrenching and depressing. I literally choked up after that one. Anyone that wants a game with an emotional story, I suggest that game.

When Aeris died.
JUST KIDDING. I didn't feel much emotion in Final Fantasy Seven. I think the saddest moment in gaming history was when Uwe Boll was born.
When Griggsand Gaz get shot in the head at the end of COD4, i was like wow i didn't expect that, i thought we were all good and we were gunna escape and then no!!!!!! Also when KotOR ended then Iplayed KotOR 2 and that ended and i was sad and now they're not making KotOR 3 and that's the saddest part.
I was one of the few who liked Rico, up untill he killed Visari. Wtf, that was leading up to be an amazing Speech! Then Rico shot him... Jerk.the ending of killzone rico damned us all

In Chrono Cross when Kid revisits the murder of Luca by Lynx. That was an epic moment to witness the death of an aged hero. Or in Final Fantasy X when Tidus finds out that by saving the world he must give up his very existence. That would be a sad moment for anyone.
But the saddest was finding out today that Kojima may be making another metal gear after such a perfect ending to an amazing story and a huge part of my life as a gamer.

This for me had to be one of the saddest things to watch Jenny die right in front of you.

Well said. Uwe put a foul taste in the mouth of many gamers
Same, also when my dog got shot in Fable 2Macmillan getting killed. And seeing how Allen and Garnett were really killed.

Pretty much all the Dreams in Lost Odyssey, the ending of the first disc, and the ending of the game. Very emotional game, I seriously cried (a lot, lol).
Crisis core, I already knew what was gonna happen but seeing it made me cry.
Also MGS4,Kojima put a lot of emotional moments in that game specially at a area you go to near the end...
