So this may just be me but I don't really care about gamerscore as a whole. What I do care about are the individual achievements that, quite specifically, my friends earn. It's kind of neat being able to show each other that when wedo things like buy all the Ferraris in PGR3 or beat certain acts on "x" difficulty in Gears of War. So it really annoys me when I'm looking at friends score/achievements and all I can see is that he got 50g for some enigmatic score labeled "secret" under his card. I just feel like, "what's the point now?" It looks like he did something cool, as it net him a rather good amount of points (in comparison to other acheivements in that game) but I don't know what. I can't feel impressed if I don't know what it was. For the record, I've seen these on his card under Tenchu Z, The Darkness, and Lost Planet (in which almost every achievement shy of one is "secret") to name a few. I understand if it's soemthing story based and the achievement might act as a spoiler but it just seems like too many for that to be the case with all of them.

Does anyone else feel the same way?

Am I seriously alone on this? Or has no one else encountered it?

Since Achievements are free I dont complain. Do some people take them to serious??... well yes but thats their problem. For the secrets I thought it was cool because it can be harder to achieve since your not told on how to get it.

Yeah, it's not that I'm obsessed but it is kinda fun to gloat with each other over our individual achievements (been doing this for years, after all, isn't that what the high score board is all about? Achievements strike me as an evolution of that).WhenI say secret, i mean they don't even tell me the name of the achievement, not just the criteria. So when I'm looking at his card, I really have no idea if what he did was impressive or not, and it seems counter productive to the whole achievement system. To me it would be like if the aforementioned high score board simply said that "player x" has the high score but not what their score actually is.

I don't like secret achievements, especially since almost every achievement in DOA4 is secret, but if I really need one, I'll just go on the web and search for the game, so it's not really a problem.

"Secret" achievements don't bother me. In general, I'm happy with the way they have been implemented.

Some achievements are 'secret' because naming them would either give away a story secret that the developers were trying to save for you, or they might explain straight out a game feature that you're supposed to figure out on your own.

secret achievements usually give away plot points, and if you want to know them so bad just go to xbox360achievements.org or achieve360points.com

Especially in the Darkness, a lot of the achievements gives away plot details.
