Wondering if its legit... I have the E74 issue that's not covered by warranty and I'm wondering if by sending it to a private business rather than M$ for repairs is a good idea. From what I've heard it will be done quicker and may cost a little less than the $99 M$ will charge to fix the error. I'm obviously not going to send anything else but the bare console itself so I won't risk losing my HDD data or any of my games. This topic will be bumped if I don't get an answer before it falls off the top page.

I hope you did your homework in researching this business. Are they legit? Where did you hear about them? Is there actual customer feedback on their website? What kind of guarantee do they offer for their services? You need to make sure of things like this before sending your 360 out in the mail, only to never get it back.

So you're basing this repair on some dude who has a Youtube channel and is charging you $75?? You're crazy man, where is the written guarantee for his services? Warranty after fixing the issue? This sounds way too shady and you're just gonna end up getting robbed. Dude, just cough up the extra $25 and send it to Microsoft.

and prolly another 10-15 days or so of waiting yeah i already ordered the box to my house (im away at college now) i wanted to make this decision in the next day or so before i send my 360 back home to meet the box to be shipped off but i mean i have a lot of information about this guy and youtube prolly has his IP addresses in case there ends up being a crime but i think he's legit

If it is a business you can trust, but I think if they fix it could void the warrenty still from Microsoft.

You do know that the $99 also gives you a year warranty for your system right? I would not trust him as you don't know him and it is not a legit business. I am sure if/when M$ finds out about that guy they will do something about it.

Hey man, it's your life and your money, do what you want. I'm just trying to give you some good advice. Yes, he may be legit and he may fix the issue for a lower cost, but what if it doesn't fix the issue? Is he going to refund your money or cover the shipping costs to have it fixed again? What if it breaks within a week? Will he guarantee his repair for a certain period of time? IDK, I just would never trust someone to work on an expensive piece of electronics without any type of backup plan. I'm telling you, you're much better off just paying MS. Anyways, I'm done ranting to you...good luck bro and let us know how it goes!

What crime could he be committing? If you do not sign anything than he does not have to do anything for you.

Ok just watched the video. You do realize that he fixes them by modding them right? M$ will not fix them after they have been modded and if they find out you have a modded system you can be fined for it. Just thought I would give you the heads up.

Thank you....I feel better knowing that you won't get ripped off. It's just not worth it. You're doing the right thing. We 360 owners look out for each other!!

i was also looking into buying an Xbox 360 arcade tomorrow or something to be traded back in upon the return of my repaired system - but doing so (I just called EB Games) would only net me $110 back out of the $280 it costs. Since the repair for the E74 is $100, doing this would save no money ($170 for the 3 week "rental" of the X360 arcade plus $100 for the repair = $270, only $10 shy of the cost of the X360 arcade) and if I can't wait a few weeks it actually makes the same sense to forego the repair process entirely.

Just rent it from like rent-to-own if there is something like that in your area. That is what I did.

not sure but it would prolly be jumping to too many conclusions to say he stole all of them... but you do bring up a good point but really why would he want to do a fake business like this he knows he's gonna be caught if hes on YouTube all the time they can trace his IPs

I just read something saying how the error might be related to the power supply and not the system it's self. So, I would recommend finding a PSU you could use to test this theory.

doubt it... though i did plug my 360 into a power strip maybe i could try plugging it directly into the wall but im not feeling hopeful at all about doing that
