I have Mass Effect 2 for PS3? I played it but felt like I was missing something, so I bought the Mass effect 1 for my Xbox 360 (I just recently borrowed my cousins Xbox so its mine now). I love Mass Effect 1 and I sort of want to import my shepard into Mass effect 2. Would it be worth it to buy the Xbox 360 Version? Does the import have a good impact on Mass Effect 2?

Yes, much more than people pay attention to. It's not just carrying over major decisions, but minor ones that lead to cameos, messages, dialogue, and pieces of sidequests that wouldn't be there otherwise. The only way to get the full experience is to play 1, 2, and 3 while importing data across the games. There will be a lot of little things that are so organic that you won't even notice it unless if you play it differently, like the part where Tali cautions Shepard about working with Cerberus due to what happened with Admiral Kahoku, which only happens if you take part in a quest for him to find a lost Alliance team. Without spoiling much, it doesn't end well for anyone and hints at Cerberus playing a bigger role in later games, which turned out to be bigger than most expected. Without an import, you're denying yourself the experience you could be having.

I was worried about that. I didn't know there was much more dialogue either like the example you've just given (and its funny cause I've done both paragon and renegade for that scene and didn't know anything about that). Thank you for your input.

They also kept mentioning how evil Cerberus was so I'm really curious to find out why in Mass Effect 1.

I'd buy it. It's pretty much all minor differences, but it does impact the characters you see and the dialogue you hear. If ME2 was still full priced I'd say just skip it but you can get it pretty cheap now. $20 new on amazon, and I'm sure you could find it cheaper somewhere used.

I would for the simple fact that you can get Mass Effect 2 for almost nothing by now.

If there has ever been a video game series where it was imperative to play the games in order from the beginning, it's Mass Effect. It is truly awesome storytelling.

You cannot lose buying ME2. At worst, you won't finish it. At best, you'll be caught up in an epic sci-fi romp.
