Depends what you like. If you're more of an FPS/multiplayer type person, Halo 4 is probably what you want.
If you enjoy RPGs with story, interesting characters, and seeing how your choices affect the game then Mass Effect 3 is what you want.
Although honestly, they are two completely different games that you can't really compare. And if you do get Mass Effect 3, if you haven't already make sure you play the previous two games of the series.
Well like the previous person mentioned, they are completely different games. RPG vs. a FPS... if you are rambunctious and impatient you will probobly get bored of Mass Effect 3 or wont be able to sit through it. Even though personally if I was forced to choose between Halo and Mass Effect I would choose ME in a heart beat. But also, Halo 4 doesn't even come out until this fall. Mass Effect 3 is already out, thats a good 4-5 months before Halo 4 will release. But if you do wanna get ME, definately get 1 and 2 and play them before you march into 3.
Halo 4 is not out yet. 343 Studios is currently developing it. Mass Effect 3 just cam out 4 days ago. Mass Effect series to me is the best franchise on the Xbox 360, Then Gears of War, then Halo (All of them). I would play both. Make sure if you choose Mass Effect to play the previous two games first.
But is ME3 really an RPG? I think the difference at this point is that Halo is a FPS and Mass Effect is a TPS. Star Wars: The Old Republic is an RPGDepends what you like. If you're more of an FPS/multiplayer type person, Halo 4 is probably what you want.

I would take up both since they are both amazing game series but it really depends what kind of games you are into.

Star Wars: The Old Republic is an RPG As far as todays standards go ME3 IS an RPG, about 13 years ago Final Fantasy 7 was an RPG, and 10 years before that, table top Dungeons and Dragons was the rpg. The term is loosely applied to whatever game developers decide needs the title to make more money i suppose.Depends what you like. The term "RPG" really needs to be thrown out. I'll admit Mass Effect 3 is very similar to a TPS, but I do still think it's an RPG. I guess I'd call it an RPG with TPS elements.
First of all, let me recommend that if you haven't done so already, play through both series of games entirely. You don't just want to pick up ME3 or Halo 4 and just play them.
For Halo, start with Halo: Combat Evolved. You also have Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo: Reach.
For Mass Effect, you have 1, 2, and 3.
I think Mass Effect definitely has the better and deeper storyline, and it's more epic.
