Should I get a xbox 360 or wait for a new version?

Should I get a xbox 360 or wait for a new version? Because I want to get an xbox but I don't want to waste my money because a new one came out. Any advice?

I definitely recommend getting it. You already have an amazing line-up to choose from and the current X360s dont break. I recommend the mid-level 60GB edition. To find the jasper chipset look at these pictures:

Ok son, see where it says 12,1 on the 12V line? Thats what you want. If it says 12V.....16,5 it is a xenon. If it says 12V.....14,2 it is a falcon. If it says 12V....12,1 like in the picture, you have a jasper. Just keep it in an open area and you'll be fine

there will always be newer version, but just buy it anyway. 360 will be worth your while..new next gen games are booming in 2008-2009 dont miss out on this

A new Xbox 360 Elite Bundle is coming out soon. The bundle includes the system, with all the necessities, along with Fable II and Halo 3. All for $400, which is how much a regular Xbox 360 Elite costs now.

Even with the weak line up this year I'm having a blast with my 360 (Got it Feb 09) CTUDude

you sir are wrong. and just sound completely foolish. the ps2 lasted what 7 years? xbox 5? to say microsoft will be content selling a 200-350$ system for another 10 years is just... stupid. take a business class and you will learn that a business model that does not incorporate any R&D decades between products aren't that successful...

id give the 360 ten years life from launch so by 2015 or so and thats being VERY optimistic. i'd say within 2 years (or by the 2011 e3) we will start getting teasers.

and to the guy who says technology can't get better? they could actually put in newer technology.... (cell processor, blu-ray, wifi, bluetooth capability, aftermarket harddrives)

to say the 360 is the pinnacle of gaming is just not having high standards. i want a virtual 3d game (like the training grounds in the 3rd xmen) where it is life-like realism and i can feel the environment. think of how games like dead space could be played if you actually were isaac and you had to aim that plasma cutter as a huge demented aliens came tearing a$$ towards you.

but to answer the question, yes its worth getting, but make sure to order your live subscription off of amazon or at least research it, you can find 13 months for less than 40$ online...

very sad that people are discussing the next version of the microsoft's xbox. I'm not looking forward to it. A) I probably won't get it for awhile if another one does come out.......and B) Xbox360 was ANYTHING but flawless........considering all the malfunctions thousands of people have experienced with it, i think the last thing they should start trying to do is make another one.

All the malfunctions?? You mean the RRoD, the only real issue the 360 has. Yes its a pain and an embarrassment to MS but the console itself is sound and by far better value than any other console on the market. The RRoD is slowly being fazed out with the new consoles and as technology advances and newer consoles come on the market MS will always want to stay ahead of the game and to do this they will have to release a new console which I for one will be looking forward to getting my hands on! Doesnt mean I will not be enjoying the current Xbox for the foreseeable future!

As others have said, most definitely pick one up. A new version of the xbox is far away, and you'll have some good times.

I'd say get one now, because I honestly don't see a new console coming out for at least another 2-3 years.

You can either buy one now due to the fact that all versions of the 360 are now reasonably priced, or you can take a chance and wait an unknown amount of time, then pay a ridiculous amount of cash for the 360's successor when it's 'eventually' released.

I just picked up a new Jasper arcade and slapped an hd in it, since my ps3 is now a oversized paper weight due to the drive. Cost me 250. Get one now!!!
