Should I get the Best Buy warranty?

Okay -

I just bought an Xbox 360 from Best Buy this Saturday. Let me first state how happy I am with this purchase, and that I truly believe Xbox 360 will remain the system of choice for years to come. I am all too aware of the hardware problems this system has had, but I'm also aware that Microsoft supposedly fixed these problems in newly manufactured 360s. Additionally, they extended their "Red Ring of Death" warranty to 3 years.

So - should I dole out $60 bucks and get the Best Buy warranty? They said that I have two weeks to decide.

if you have money to waste, go for it.

Or you can spend that money on a game, and take advantage of the free 3 year warranty from MS

I forgot to mention that I'm not totally sure about what the Best Buy warranty offers that the Microsoft warranty doesn't. I realize that you get the instant replacement from Best Buy, which is nice. But other than that, are there good reasons to get the Best Buy warranty?

you would have to be stupid not to....I have already sent 1 system back to MS...got a refurb back (w/ a manufacture date of 5/05! when i purchased my ORIGINALin late 06') Yeah so I sold the refurb to a friend w/ MS bs warranty I purchased, and bought a new xbox360 from best buy w/ the prp. I did this the same day I went with my brother up to the same best buy store to cash in on his prp for his console which had a screwed up disc drive, he upgraded to the elite for a little more $$$

Point being.....deal w/ waiting for a coffin and time for repair or just walking into a store and getting a replacement the same day... u figure it out

Yes, take advantage of being on the phone with people who can barely speak English for 45 minutes.

Take advantage of waiting a month an a half for a replacement console.

OR, you can do the smart thing and buy a PRP and exchange your console the moment it breaks. ;)

Same day exchange. No worrying. No waiting. No bull****.

Go with bestbuy because you wait a month for MS and you get a broken one back (not a joke its true)

I just had my 360 go out on me yesterday (the day COD4 came out) and I had purchased the $50 2 year warranty from best buy. I took my 360 in they told me I had $399 credit for anything in the store so I went and picked up an elite for an extra $50 and they prorated me the remaining warranty. I also purchased an extra 2 year warranty on the new elite. All told I spent $93 for a new system that is better for me (hdmi) and a two year warranty from yesterday. This was well worth it for me.

If I had dealt with Microsoft (which I had to do with my launch system) it takes almost a month to send your unit in and get it back and you do not get a new system just a refurbished one. I would definately recommend the best buy warranty because it is always easier to deal with people in person anyway than on the phone.
