Part of MC's greatness is that he is an unknown character so to speak. We dont know who he is on the inside and that makes him mysterious and gives him depth that knowing could never provide. Hopefully we dont ever have an unveiling like Samus in Metroid.

The answers to all your concerns. BTW since you can clearly see a face, and this is the "Finish the fight" chapter, I think we might be able to see him with his helmet off being that they took their time to put a nose and eyes to him, with a scar! enjoy..
you do know that all the spartans in multiplayer are not spartan 117. they are different spartans that is why bungie never let players choose Master Chiefs armor color.
anyway... the unmasked spartan should stay unmasked because with no face of the one you control, you feel like it is you in that spartan armor, which inhances the feel and gameplay.
I never want him to take off his helmet but you know what would be funny... At the end of the game and the fighting is over and he takes off his helmet and it's revealed that Master Chief is a woman!
He should not be revealed and it would be a horrible marketing idea if we did see his face. At this moment we all have our own concepts of what he looks like be it white/black/brown/yellow/green/purple/pink etc. That alone allows us the ability to wrap our minds into the fantasy of the game. Although I think the view of just an eye thru a broken visor would be cool it could possibly lead to speculation of MC race/origins and that would not be good either.I'd rather not know.
remember when samus took off her helmet? how everyone was shocked samus was a she, how funny would it be if MC took off his helmet and there was some surprise there, like a clown or a *shudder and hopes to god not* mime
