I loved SH2, and enjoyed SH3. I never touched SH4 but this one seems more like 2 than the others. Is the game worth a purchase or should I just rent it? Or avoid it all together? Thanks.

If you loved SH2 then this is a must-buy , the story + graphics + sound are amazing if not too perfect....it is like 1 , 2 but the combat have been changed to good IMO ... its also long , has many puzzles and also many scares with perfect atmosphere.

[ The only thing that maybe you would hate is that there isin't anymore of the backtracking....you'll know exactly after the cutscene what or where to go , except for a few places. ] i honestly am glad they made it like that , i hate backtracking...it makes me bored from exploring the hell out of the game and still can't be able to find where to go and then i have to rely on a guide.

Despite hearing bad things about this game and the not so good reviews, I think I'll take the dive for this game, but when I get some money up..too many games releasing all at once :(

Definitely not as great as the other games in the series, but it is a game that I think belongs in everyones collection.

Does this game have any puzzle elements like the first Silent Hill game? I'm considering getting it to play with someone who is really only interested in solving puzzles or trying to piece together the story (more interested in murder mystery kind of things than action games). So, is there enough of that to keep them entertained, or has the series moved towards just being action titles?

Also, is the story for the most part self-contained, ie. will it be easy to fully understand what's going on without playing the other games (we have only played the original).

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I don't want to waste their time and my money on a game they wouldn't enjoy.

http://alan1187.blogspot.com/ I made a review on my blog there. But to be honest, unless you're a fan rent it. I got 1000/1000 on it in 4 days time with out a ton of time to play it.

Yes , it has puzzle elements just like the second silent hill , the story is amazing ...its one of the high points of the game and yes its easy to understand but there are things which you won't understand if you didn't play the other games , although you could visit the SH : HC forum for any answer:) the game is epic and the ending left me totally speechless [ i got the real ending ] ... not to mention there are 4 other endings and one of them is the real ending.
