So, I've had Skyrim for the last couple of months. I pretty much traded 8 games in just to get it because I could never save up enough money to get it. Something at home would always come up that would prevent me from getting it. Finally go it...LOVED IT!! Probably one of the best games I had ever played (at the time).

But after reaching Level 30 Nord, I realized something. It started to get boring. Every quest is the same thing; you meet someone in town who either lost something that belonged to them or someone wants you to kill somebody or steal something. So, you go to a random cave, retrieve that person's lost item, kill the leader of some clan, or steal something...boom quest over. So, is it me, or is anybody else feeling like this? Does it get better, because I'm seriously considering trading Skyrim in for the Mass Effect 3 pre-order? Or, maybe I should just take a break from Skyrim for awhile?? I really hate to trade it in, or stop playing, because I used to LOVE this game to death....now I'm sick of it.

I've got two level 40+ characters, plus another three low level characters.

I've done endless sidequests.....but I am yet to finish the main story with any of my characters. And it's been.....oh I dunno.....more than a month since I last played Skyrim. So yeah.....I've currently got no motivation to go back and finish the main story.

I suggest giving it a break for a few weeks, maybe a month or two. I've done this with several games and come back to them and enjoyed them more than ever. Fallout: New Vegas, Grand Theft Auto IV and the BioShock games are just a few examples.

If you only play one game every day for weeks you will get bored of it. No matter what game.

My thoughts exactly. You are suffering from "repetition fatigue," a problem that comes along with basically every long RPG ever made. Most RPG vets are pretty used to it. Skyrim is actually more varied than most. I didn't lose interest until I crossed 120 or so hours, so I hung up the remainder of the game to wait for some fresh DLC to liven things up. I recommend you do the same.

I put about 135 hours or so into Skyrim and I got bored as well, I've tried a couple times to get back into but I just can't. I'm waiting for some DLC to make it feel new again.

Thanks guys...now that I think about it, I really haven't played many RPG's, besides the Fallout Series. Might just give it a break. This gives me a chance to finish another game.

I got to level 50 and had a break for a month and a half, just picked it up again to work on finishing all achievements and love it ... again. Any good game will eventually wear you down, put it on the back burner, play some other games then pick it up again. Remember there will be some very impressive and substantial DLC coming for Skyrim (according to Todd Howard, Bethesda), so trading it may not be the best idea.

Do you realize some people use the black background color? Your post cannot be read with the black theme!

Trade it in for teh pre order. The game doesn't get any better, after you complete the main quest you'll start to notice it's all it is is clearing out dungeons...

Me too.

@OP

This is one of the things I thought ES 3/4 did better. So little variety of quest types in Skyrim. That and the fact that all loot is randomized and around the same power level. No real incentive to explore.
