Umm...I don't think any of us knew...But to answer your question it's called a data transfer cable. You can buy them on amazon.com for $20 or under.

Yes there is another way. You can transfer everything on a 16 gig or lower flash drive.

The slim does not get the RROD but some just show a red dot in the middle when they are too hot. The slims shut down when they are too hot to save themselves so they are alot better than the elites.

I'm not sure how the transfer cable works but for the flash drive you would have to plug it into say a friends xbox, then format it to xbox format, plug your own HDD into your friends console and transfer your files.

OH no no no sorry I misunderstood. When you boot up your new Slim you go to my xbox, profile, then recover profile. It will ask you to type your GT and your registered email and password and then it will download your profile to your new xbox.

Sadly no. That's what I was saying about the transfer cable or the flash drive.

The profile recovery only downloads stuff like (played games, your friends list, marketplace purchase history, avatar clothes and settings.)

I just looked it up and I was right, You need a working 360 to use the transfer cable.

RROD doesn't affect the hard drive though, so you should be able to recover the hard drive data.

There is a better way to do this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KeFPNcgx5g&feature=related.

Follow this procedure, with the extra step of first removing your current slim HDD. Note that this voids the warranty on your old HDD, but I doubt it's under warranty anyway.

I just did this today and it worked marvelously. You don't even have to go through the process of Live profile recovery.

You will need a Torx 6 and Torx 9 screwdriver to remove the enclosure.
