So, I am confused. The ending of legendary......

SPOILER ALERT

has a sphere or something lighting up at the end with some sci-fi music so.....i'm guessing there will be some more video games, perhaps not halo 3, perhaps there will be? I don't know.....halo's story is too confusing....co-op's bad*** though

I think it is merely a culmination of this story arc with the Covenant, the Halos, the Flood, etc. I don't doubt that Master Chief will return in form, but I bet his enemies will be different.

EDIT: That light is not really coming from the sphere (which looks like a planet), but is coming around it. Much like an eclipse would start to have a sun come out from behind the moon or planet. I don't know enough about the Halo universe to answer if there is anything in it that may explain that.

Halo is not finished because:

  • The Flood are still on Delta Halo and The Ark (The Ark was never destroyed only damaged, plus the Halo ring (Installation 4 NEVER fired) It "shook itself to pieces" - Cortona
  • The Flood are still on Installation 5
  • There are still 6 Halo rings
  • Master Chief is floating towards the Forerunner's Home planet
  • Where did the Flood come from?
  • Why do the flood speak English?
  • Why do all the Covenant speak English?
  • How did the sarge survive Installation 4's explosion in Halo 1, but die in Halo 3? Bungie sucks at telling a story. I mean seriously....SUCKS.

also if you finished halo1 on legendary you get a cutscene of sarge hugging an alien, perhaps that gave him a ride back or whatever. do your research

Yea I guess I should be a blind idiot like Cortana and just assume all is well.

Anyways, if you played through the previous games you would know why the flood are still alive. Bungie pretty much left out very single detail about the game.

Really if given time I'm sure Halo 4 is possible, but Do I want another game based on Halo? Of course, I look forward to seeing MC awaken on another planet which needs his help against another threat, and he joins in along with Cortana.

Thus a shame I never got to see the Arbiter's Home Planet...... Wonder what happen to the other races of the covenant? They all went home?

LMAO if we didnt know anything then why are u getting so pissed and making a big deal if we simply "dont know anything about the halo trilogy". id only listen to a frustrated nerd like you if you wore a bungie badge. i know my points are more valid then yours. so is a flood spore gunna infect a snail, then the snail fires a halo, then the snail puts on a arbiter helmet and halo starts again?BlindEffekt

Well if you played Halo 2, then you would see that the flood was on Delta Halo.

If you played Halo 3, you would know the Flood is still on the Ark.

You fail.

You honestly think that Halo's story is good when it has over 100 unanswered questions.

You didn't answer one of my questions. You completely ignore them because you have NO idea.

Regardless of whether the flood is still a threat or not, Bungie still doesn't tell the story well. But maybe thats because I'm comparing it to the best videogame saga ever created, which we ALL know to be Half-Life. Keep the argument going though, its entertaining.

There's no point.

That dude never even played Halo. He's just running his mouth for attention. No one wants to admit that Halo 3 added nothing to the halo story.

Halo Wars is a prequel, about when the covenant first attacked the humans. Thats why they were on an icy world in the halo wars trailer, because thats the battle of harvest, the first human-covenant battle.

Blind Effect: There is a perfect reason why MC wouldn't suddenly get up and go out to stop the flood, which is no doubt still out there. He's stranded out in Space, no one knows he's alive, so how can he just get up and go? Use his imagination? I think not!

I believe the flood speak english due to the fact that they are able to spawn from living beings, and thus maybe they somehow are able to retain some information due to it (similar to the X in Metroid Fusion, just not a complete copy like the X were able to form).

The reason some of the covenant was able to speak english was because they learned it. I believe it was in the Halo 3 Limited Edition with the art booklet where it had said that the Unggoy (grunts) took pride in their ability to speak the english language. But I'm sure the novels probably delve deeper into detail.

Sarge lived because he's the token african american. Bungie was too lazy to make up a new one (also they may not have thought Halo 1 would be so successful), so they just used him.

The halo rings aren't obsolete as there's still flood, and who says there isn't some other force out there who would want to fire the rings as a weapon, and not knowing the true power they hold? All it takes is "Bad Guy A" to come along, threaten he'll fire the ring in order to attain some great power and bam, halo's aren't so obsolete anymore. Also, flood still exist, and possibly other of those orb thingys (forgot the name of the one who kept trying to fire the first ring), so they are probably waiting for another reclaimer to set foot on their halo to fire it.

Most of that is just my hypothesis though... Bungie isn't very creative (past Halo 1) so it's probably along those lines. Blind Effect, you should just give up as you just blurt out things without any reasoning behind them. Give valid points or facts, and then maybe we will consider them, mkay? Good.

He wasn't "sent away." All it takes is some magical beacon when Humans/something are searching the area and they find MC and cortana. Now they found him, he's back in the picture and ready to go. OR maybe they are setting it up so a new character will emerge and then you eventually find MC and end up fighting along side him? Who knows what predictable plothole Bungie has in store. The left the ending open to multiple options to continue the franchise. I guess the sayings true that common sense isn't so common, because you sure do lack it.

Also, that whole thing where you said that him being unfrozen in Halo 1 and the end of Halo 3 has nothing to do with eachother, actually they do. He went to sleep in the same type of freezing chamber he was awakened in when you first start halo 1.

Well actually I think they're connected in a Beginning and Ending kind of way. The trilogy begins in Halo 1 when the Master Chief comes out of the cryo chamber. The trilogy concludes in Halo 3 when the Master Chief goes back into the cryo chamber. It's not like a story element. It's more of a plot device in my opinion.

To the guy arguing about how Sarge got of the first Halo:

It was meant to always be a joke, if you didn't catch it at the start of Halo 2, about how the first guy asks "So Sarge, you never got around to telling me how you guys got off Halo anyway...?"

"Sorry guns, it's classified"

It was strictly for humor. As for Sarge dieng in Halo 3, he was kind of killed by Guilty Spark, not the actual Halo collapsing...

I bet you anything sarge is not dead, but to be honest I would love to see a Halo 4, even if it was out sourced to another team that bungie watched over closey because lets be honest, who could mess upa halo game? But I also think bungie should totally go the Epic route and make a kickass game engine and make a game called Halo Assault or something and make it a Multiplayer based game, just like Unreal tournament. But I also would like to see bungie make an awesome action adventure game.

If you had any common sense and watched the ending to Halo 1, then you would clearly see the sarge die while the Master Chief escapes.

I don't care if he survived in the book. The books are written by a moron who has nothing to do with the final story for the game. The game is the actual story, not the books.

the funny thing about this is that my friend n i would argue about that very point so much when it came down to Star Wars. As a kid i would read almost all of the star wars books out there but but friend like u said also said that the books are worth nothing, there are only the movies, which is totaly lame in my view. i mean, the books have the title and the rights and approved by bungie and everything so why are the books part of the story? Yes granted bungie was probably thinking that Halo 1 wasn't going to be so great and probably was no where thinking of Halo 2 at that point, but then blah blah blaah, made so much money, lets make part 2 for more money. now they got 3 games, books, graphic novels, comics n wat ever out there just makin the money. Also i just have to say, Halo games suck ass at story telling. SSSSOOO much sucky suck suck. maybe i'm spoiled cause i like to read books and a squaresoft fan boy (chrono trigger, xenogears, ff 6,7,9,3,5, ect ) that. i mean i still don't see why so many ppl think the Halos are the greatest thing out there. sure it can be fun but i've played a lot better out there. Half Life 1-2 and the such, Bioshock, hell i even put Gears of War above Halo3 any days, GoW was just made a lot better.

but anyways i'm starting to rant so i shall close this now. till next time

Does that mean Eric Nylund is an educated moron? Research his credentials.

I'm sure Bungie and Microsoft kept the story on a tight leash. The novels were a collaborative effort and were written to expand the Halo universe. In doing so, the novels are part of the entire Halo story.

The Flood is the novelization of Halo: Combat Evolved and the upcoming Contact Harvest is written by Bungie's own Joe Stanton.

As a side note, Nylund did an interview which is now deadlinked on Tor's site but is now on YouTube.
