I completely agree that the books have to do with the plot line of Halo (as no doubt, that's the only time you actually see storyline to the game). It's the exact same as what they did with starwars and a few other Sci-fi movies/games, they do it all the time to explain the story much better.
And about the whole Cryostasis thing, I wasn't trying to say that they are directly similar, like MC is found and then it rotates back to Halo 1 or anything. I'm just saying that the chamber is the same as the one he had entered in the begining, not that they are connected through the storyline.
I do believe Sarge was supposed to die, but as I said, Bungie wasn't expecting to make a whole series most likely so they planned to kill off all the characters except for MC and Cortana (because heroes can't die now-a-days, aside from the rare exception), and with the popularity, they just brought him back, as he was sort of important. But I'll take the word of whoever said the book said MC picked him up with 3 soldiers when he was escaping. Makes sense to a point (just because halo collapsed around him, doesn't mean he was under it).
Let's just leave it at all of this (not trying to take the last words or anything) and unless the topic creator has anything else to ask, we should just forget debating this as it has opinions from many sides that won't be answered.
