The clerk at Gamestop looked at me with this look on his face like I just kicked his dog, he couldn't believe it. I gave him my reasons in this order:

1) Set list sucks (i.e. AFI, The Killers, Sex Pistols, Sonic Youth, Pat Benetar, Weezer, Dead Kennedys, Slipknot, Eric "Elevator Music" Johnson, Muse, and all of the bonus songs excluding Fall of Troy). These songs just do not transition well to a guitar game. These songs mostly consist of chords and no solos. Eric Johnson's song is fun to play, but the song sucks and I don't know how that song is in the same bracket as Slayer, Iron Maiden, and Metallica.

2) The Difficulty: I completed all of the songs on expert no problem except Reigning Blood. This song just pisses me off to no end. I don't even want to know how hard the end boss battle is.

3) The songs are only going to get worse: I downloaded the Foo Fighters and Velvet Revolver song packs and I wasn't impressed at all. I think the Foo Fighters are an awesome band, but I didn't enjoy these songs as much as I enjoyed Monkey Wrench on the last GH. As for Velvet Revolver, just try and play the song Messages without pausing the game and smashing your head through a wall.

This is just my opinion, hopefully another smart person has done the same thing or is fed up with GH3 and is waiting for Tuesday to come. Post your gripes with GH here.

Everybody has that favorite band that nobody has heard of, until they make a CD that everybody likes. This is GH situation is kind of like that to me. GH sold me down the river, but thats ok because GH creator is brewing up a little something called rock band.

i agree, the set list for the most part sucks, and the game is marginally easier, but hey, my girlfriend like it at least.

haha im with you on raining blood, i cant beat that damn song...

i beat the mosh part only like 2 times and i always fail around 74%... pisses me off too. every other song is no problem for me. havent started on dragonforce yet though.

too bad u dont like GH3, i find it to be the best one yet. The online play is loads of fun, i LOVE the setlist (too bad you dont). sorry to hear u don't like and you had to trade it back in... should have kept it though, you lost alot of money im sure

I never said one thing about throwing money to buy this game. I'm just saying I'm disappointed with it. And this is what a wanted, there's nothing like a little heated argument. Now I will take all of this rage I have developed and take it to CoD4. Somehow I play better when I'm pissed.

Yeah I had a feeling that I wouldn't care for this game as much as the others. For me there are only a handful of fun songs to play and a lot of this game's art andstyle bothers me. I can understand why people like this game but it's just not my thing.

Alright..You say Eric Johnson's "Cliffs of Dover" sucks, and then you say you enjoy playing it? And I hate to tell you, but you just wasted about $75, or about $115 if you bought the guitar controller. And by the way, Muse's "Knights of Cydonia" is one of the best songs in the game, that's just my opinion though.

my major problem with the game (and I reason I've considered selling it) is the difference between normal and hard. With GHII normal was a challenge, and hard upped the ante, but was doable. In GHIII, IMO, normal is entirely too easy but I can barely get through the first set on hard....it's just not as fun.

*Edit - Also, after reading the other comments, I just got the game without the controller (i'm still using the Xplorer from GHII) :)

im with this guy....GH3 is way more focused on repetitve riffing than solos....and to be honnest...it gets repetitive..repeatedly..repeating....i guess you get what im saying.....though the set list is totally awesome...and all very good songs......it seems putting them on guitar hero 3 wasnt such a good idea.......to be honnest the songs i enjoyed playing the most were of course the hardcore metal songs.......and pride and joy by SRV......it deserved the 8 rating it got on here.....and what the hell is up with the drummer animation??? anybody else see the lack of work they put on the drummer?? total shame....they probably got the new-guy-in-the-business to do the animations cuz they're just plain horrible.....they better dosome better downloadable songs......

It felt more like GH 2.5 to me, barely any new songs and repetitive game play. I'd much rather get a real guitar.

I completely understand and its exactly why I havent got it.

The reason raining blood and thru the fire and flames are so hard is cause they are proper guitarists. Ive said this many a time, and yes its all my own opinion, but I dont think im alone when I say that guitar hero should be exactly that, not this freaking mainstream crap.

fill the game with the likes of jeff waters, joe satriani, yangwie, ammot brothers, DIMEBAG!! etc and you will have a proper guitar hero game.

there are songs there that deserve to be there that arent as good guitarists as mentioned above but damn, no ones ever gonna tell u acdc doesnt belong etc.

afi, my chemical, etc etc etc all need to go away. useless, completely useless on guitars. sure they're catchy and simple but that = boring to play.

they dont want to discrimate so they make it varied, awesome, more chance of selling more copies. Those that actually know about guitar and the skill it takes to play are insulted by this game.

1) Set list is amazing, you just dont like good music.

2) Dunno how you did it cause I can barely do hard :

3) Dont want the download songs so I wouldnt care if they got worse since theyre overpriced anyway.

Smart person? You wasted money and you think youre a smart person....

Personally, I love the game and think its the best in the series, but then again it has most of my favorite bands like Killswitch Engage, AFI, The Gallows, Senses Fail, Rise Against, Dope, Slipknot, and Lacuna Coil.

Owell, your problem, not mine.

Lemme guess Krunk, you say that because you play a real guitar? Or youre terrible at rhythm (Spelling?) based games? Im thinkin the latter option.

This is probably the best song list on a GH game so yet, most people have said that. You're actually the first person that i've seen who didn't like it.

No offense but these bands are why I have never bought GH. The music is so mainstream and pop-ish. (Excluding Dragonforce). They kick some major butt. I do appreciate the classic rock on the game but, that too, gets boring. If they included bands like As Blood Runs Black, The Devil Wears Prada, Norma Jean, old Atreyu, and some As I Lay Dying, the game would make my library. Until then, it's just a game for emo/scene kids.

I see a lot of criticism of the set list... I think every Guitar Hero game has "weak" songs, and it depends largely on your taste in music. I happen to love Cream, GNR, Pearl Jam, and Rage. I am not a fan of Slayer or Slipknot. That doesn't mean I'm going to call the entire set list "trash." They have to appeal to a wide audience. They can not fill the entire game with "real guitarists" like the ones some other posters have been mentioning because it would appeal to about 5 people and it would not be accessible to anyone. Plus, you never know what will turn out to be appealing. One of my favorite songs in the game is by a French pop group... so go figure... That being said, this game is easier than past ones. It's also worth noting that a lot of the charts are tougher all-around when compared to past games. Turn on the precision cheat if this really bothers you! This is accessible to a wide amount of people, even those who haven't played GH games before, because they made it easier to play. I don't see anything wrong with you selling it back. A friend of mine did the same thing. I don't think that the track list is any weaker than previous games. Perhaps it just doesn't match your tastes as well. That's fine. Darksusperia: I know plenty about guitars and the skill it takes to play them, and I am not "insulted by this game." Guitar Hero is nothing like playing real guitar. It is a game. It is completely different than playing the instrument. There's no reason you can't enjoy both in completely different ways.

Damn mayne. You just made me remember that I bought this game and the guitar. ANd I have $100 of unuse sitting next to me on my chair. I beat that game (on medium) and got four achievements, did the dumb ass tutorial for a fourth, and then I was like, "Screw the other 980 points. This game is not worth playing four times through for the other achievments." And now I haven't played it since. I did like a bunch of songs on there, I play more for the songs than the difficulty, but most of them were just bad . . .

Thanks for the info on the Foo Fighters tracks though. Will dl. (But isn't a Foo FIghters pack coming out with Rock Band?)
