So is Transformers 2 actually a good movie-based game?

I saw my friend playing it last night and he said it was actually good. I just read the GameSpot review a few minutes ago and it got a 7.5, nothing spectacular but it's still a solid score.

Are these developers actually putting in 10% effort now or did standards for movie games just go so low that any game can get a 7?

Like all reviews, it's down to opinions. Personally, I did enjoy the first Transformers game, did have some issues, but it wasn't a horrible game.

I have the second one right now. It's alright I suppose, gameplay is pretty neat but the campaigns...however most missions are just 'kill everyone in sight before you may move on'. Don't let the review fool you, it isn't two seperate campaigns, they're both relatively identical. In the Autobots campaign, you'll have to defend a powerstation from being blown up. In the Decepticons campaign, you'll have to attack the powerstation. It get's pretty repetitive...I know it's always 'neat' to play both sides of the story but when the story isn't that great, it's no fun at all.
