MS will allow developers to make their their games required the HHD, especially MMO's. These games will create some type of "Master Storage File" in the hard drive. Speculation predicts that others games will use this method to improve technical features that allow smoother frame rates, load times, and overall graphical/audio performance. I personnaly believe that most MP games should be using this, just like Warhawk for the PS3. The best thing about Warhawk's memory's storage file it's that when not being used it's very compressed, so it doesn't bother's you much in case you want to download movies and other temporary huge files. This is why I'm not a big fan of DLC, some games take about 500MB to 1GB because of more content that becomes quite painfully to delete and dowload over and over again; such as R6 Vegas, Oblivion (the only game I forgive), GoW, Splinterl Cell, Perfect Dark Zero, etc... Of course, I do delete some content of old games but sometimes I like to play them, and I have to download them repetedly.

Thats going to be great and all but who wants to buy a new HDD when the 120GB is $179.99...

I know I wont be buying it and I sure as hell dont want to have to constantly delete and clean out my current HDD to accommodate the games that require installation.

Even with the Premium its only 20GB and whats that translate into like 17-18 GB worth of storage? If games require an Install and they are of any considerable size you will run out of space in no time...

I'm not that worried about it since I've got a 20Gb model. It's highly unlikely that there will be all that many games that will require that much space and by the time there are the price of 100Gb HDD's will have dropped.

As for people who thought they could get along forever without a HDD on their 360....they didn't have a good grasp of reality to begin with.

There are already two games that require an hdd. Final Fantasy XI and some football manager game in Europe.

I hope more games require an hdd in the future. The core 360 is really holding things back for the rest of us. Stupid tard pack

Yeah I imagine the price of the 120GB HDD will drop by then but if they go the route Sony did with the PS3 believe me the space will fill up fast.

I installed a 160GB in my PS3 and currently using 40+ GB of it...My 360 on the other hand I have to go through and delete old game saves and demos all the time to free up space on the 20GB HDD...

i think that this 'feature' will be more like streaming. basically, when u put the DVD in, there will be a 2 or 3 minute load time [slightly longer than average i mean]. This would be when the game is unpacking certain files onto ur HDD. Now, when u start playing, the game will load from the HDD as well as the DVD, so the games can be bigger, and the load times can be maintained / faster. Now, when u eject ur disk, all those unpacked files will delete themselves, and u won't lose any space, as such. this is MSs alternate to having all of us buy HDDVD drives... i think at least....

just specualtion.
