Sony no longer has to worry about their 600$ price tag.

The Elite is just a little cheaper, only by like 30$. It may have a larger hard drive, but that alone is not enaugh to drive people away from sony's console.

Except that the $399 version is still better than the PS3.  The extra 100gigs is completely optional.

The core is still 299, the premium is still 399, you are not required to own an Elite for any 360 game or service and most people don't have any use for it. On the other hand the PS3 still is 200 more expensive for it's low end model then the 360's low end model and still 120 more expensive for it's high end model then 360's high end model.

So, no. You're point isn't valid.

You can't find a 20 GB PS3 in stores, this isn't System Wars, and they still have to worry because you can still get a $250 Wii, or a $399 Premium.  Unfortunately this may prolong (or speed up depending on how you look at it) the price drop that the system could have really benefited from.

Xbox 360 Elite doesn't have blu-ray or Wi-fi. So, you can't compare these two.

At least Microsoft makes it an option to buy that, where it's required for Sony. >_>.   Oh, and your average gamer doesn't watch movies on their 360, let alone hi-def movies.  Nothing wrong with plain old DVD's >_>

This is one thing I get so tired of seeing. Nobody knows for sure that the extra $200 is all due to the cost of Blu-Ray. For all we know it could only add $50 and the rest of the price be something else.

Like 1% of the population of the world utilizes blu-ray. Take that arguement somehwere else. By the way if you haven't been keeping up..Sony is not exactly making any money off the PS3. Sales are DOWN DOWN DOWN for Sony. You should start seeing some major firing soon.

1% of the population of the world is approximately 600 million people. The Blu-Ray Association could only wish for that many people using it.

The OP is forgetting that the $400 premium is still a better value than the PS3 for most people. The Elite is only really required if you want to use IPTV, which requires Fiber Optic lines in your area, which is still pretty rare.
