okay, so with recent news about the HD-DVD player price drop plus the 5 movie offer, I'm feeling pretty confident in walking out a Best Buy with one in hand.

My question is... Does the 360 HD-DVD player still come with King Kong? I know Nosferatu posted about the breaking news but I just wanted to confirm that it did indeed come with the remote AND King Kong PLUS the 5 movie mail-in rebate. I really don't want to get hassled.

Thanks in advance!

It does. My brother bought one today. King Kong comes in the box along with the remote. And we went and mailed the 5 movie thing in. Plus it's $150 at Best Buy which is $30 cheaper than alot of other places.

Go to the store, pick up an HD-DVD player, and look at the box. It should have a silver sticker on it announcing it comes with King Kong and the remote. If it does, you're in business. If it doesn't, find another one and repeat the process.

I bought my Xbox360 HD-DVD player at Best Buy the day that it was released and it only came with the King Kong HD-DVD movie but not the remote. What remote are you talking about? Also I can't be any happier with the player, besides the HD-DVD movies regular dvd movies look better too then compare to my Magnavox and Samsung upconverting dvd players.

I was amazed by King Kong. Bought 300 have not watched it yet. V for Vendetta is pimp too. Just got Matrix thru netflix for HD. Need to watch that as well..... As far as if the HD player has king kong---go w/ others suggestions, goto the store and check it out.

Everywhere I'm looking, including Best Buy, it's at least $180. I can't find it for $150.

Either your tv is total trash or you need lasik. If you cant tell the difference between upscaled and true 1080P content...

Or 3rd option, you are trolling.

Just for you new owners....the movie "300" is not the best movie to show off the hd-dvd player. The movie is intentionally grainy and washed out, so try some other movies...King Kong looks incredible.

You get to pick one from each category

Category A: Apollo 13, Seabiscuit, The Chronicles of Riddick

Category B: Casablanca, Constantine, Dukes of Hazzard

Category C: Four Brothers, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow

Category D: The Rundown, Blazing, Saddles U2: Rattle and Hum

Category E: U-571, The Perfect Storm, We Were Soldiers

I would NEVER buy the 360 HD-DVD player as the only 360 that can play PCM is the elite and that's only 2 channel pcm. for those of you who don't know PCM is an uncompressed sound format which gives you much better sound. It's like comparing a mp3 (compressed) to a actual cd song (uncompressed), the difference is pretty clear if you have a half decent sound system.

Also that "near cd quality" setting you see when you burn mp3 songs is no where near cd quality as that would be over 1,000kbps.

Sadly, yes...but hey they are free. :) I wouldn't expect them to give away blockbusters like The Departed or 300.

Who cares? People get the add-on for the gorgeous high-definition picture, first and foremost, and it does a VERY good job in that department. Lots of people don't have high-end sound setups and if they did they probably have the resources to buy a stand-alone Blu-Ray or HD DVD player.

I'm just saying for 2 bills its not worth it. THEY PUT THE MOVIES IN WIDESCREEN STILL! WHY THE HELL WOULD HD DVD's BE WIDESCREEN AGAIN IF THEY CAN ONLY PLAY ON WIDESCREEN TELEVISIONS!

What the hell are you talking about? Do you mean you still get black bars when watching an hd- dvd on a 16x9 widescreen tv? Well guess what genius, not all movies are filmed in 16x9. Most are filmed in 2.35x1. Which will give you black bars on a 16x9 tv. Dont slam something when you arguments are completly false.
