Hey all. Just noticed while on play.com, that Splinter Cell Conviction has been put back to 31st March next year. The last I looked it was due to come out next month! I hate it when they do that. Anyone know why it was put back?

Cheers.

More than likely for developmental reasons. I never even knew there was a official release date so...

Even ater E3's initial announcement that SC would make it this holiday, Ubisoft mentioned that we wouldn't see it until next year.

I can only assume it's to continue to work on the game and completely promote their other big stealth title this Holiday Season: Assassins Creed which I'd prefer for now anyways.

I can't wait for Convictio, but the delay doesn't bother as much as a Assassins Creed would have.

Yeah there was a release date shown for quite a while on play.com for it but it might of been official....I just assumed it was. It definitely said sometime in November. Ah well, they put back so many games these days, they never get released on the dates they first say.

Cheers.

I'm pretty sure the delay was announced a while ago. Last time I can remember it was still suppose to come out end of this year was in January.

No idea why the delay is there, but if you watch some interiews they say they worked 3-4 years just on the engine of the open world and AI. Also, the animations in most vids look very choppy still, so next month wouldn't be good.

They are trying a whole new gameplay system basically, I can't really name any game that has done quite the same, so if they want something new done right, I guess it will take a very long time to make that reality.

This makes me sad, but the further they put it back the more time they have to perfect it.

Indeed. When a game tries something new and it has allot of flaws you can forgive it because it's something cool and different. But when a game tries something new and succeeds in it, it's going to rock your world like the best game at that time.

Een though they probably could get away with the first scenario, I'd like to see them go for the last one.
