This is a joke right? cmon its like comparing Devil May Cry to God of War, GoW is just a bad copy of DMC, its the same with SC, it just copied everything from MGS and that sucks, besides the gameplay is really bad, the only good Tom Clancy game is Rainbow six.great_rulolol Your opinion is a joke.
spliter cell is garbage now. all "tom clancy" games have gone downhillag1002
Says the guy with the Rainbow Six icon and the link to a Vegas 2 montage in his sig. lol
oh, and Sam, all the way
Metal Gear by faaaaaaaar
IMO the Metal Gear series are the best series ever (because they have the best storyline) and MGS1 is the best game ever

And Snake could kick Fisher's a$$ any day
Metal Gear Solid because I hate it when you get caught in splinter cell and it is a mission failure. In MGS, when you get caught you have to take out all the enemies or hide somewhere. Thats more fun than SC. MGS's story is just too good too. Also, MGS4 new stealth gameplay will own SC series. SC is the only Tom Clancy game I don't like though I haven't played Chao's Theory and Double Agent. Spartans_317Well, you should play them, because in those games if you get detected you CAN kill all of the people and move on

Exactly, you should try them. Not all of the missions were like that. Not only that, SC is far more realistic in terms of inventory. Since when can one guy carry 24 different weapons and 5 cardboard boxes? Fisher had a far cooler personality than Snake. SC also had multiplayer first, which I never played but it did get good reviews on it. Story and plot? Well, MGS1 did have a good story but part 2, Sons of Liberty's story/plot was retarded. I never played part 3 because my ps2 died for the final time and you can't compare SC to MGS4 because it isn't out yet.

Many people don't really get this, but:
They are so different from each other, that you can't compare it.
Splinter Cell is all about the realism, hiding in the shadows and typically preventing some terrorist group from launching a nuclear weapon.
However, Metal Gear Solid is about this really weird story that features human freaks and events that would never work in other games. Yet it fully works in MGS. Hideo Kojima is in my opinion a genius, and the series is definitely not for everyone.
Splinter Cell is pretty fun, but MGS has my heart. If you can get into the story, it stays with you.

This is a joke right? cmon its like comparing Devil May Cry to God of War, GoW is just a bad copy of DMC, its the same with SC, it just copied everything from MGS and that sucks, besides the gameplay is really bad, the only good Tom Clancy game is Rainbow six.great_rulo
graw?
I have played Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty and to me that was inferior to Splinter 1-3
but from the many MANY gameplay videos i have seen for MGS 4, man that game is going to be sweet
"drools" but I just bought a Wii for SSBB so I probably wont buy a PS3 anytime soon

That is one of the worst posts I've seen in a long time.
But to answer your question, I'd go with Metal Gear Solid.

what the heck
GOW is not a copy of DMC
and
SC is not a copy of MGS.
I would say got the time being SC, both MGS and Sc are for hardcore gamers but MGS3 got so hard in begining that it pissed many off, and I have played 4 SC games and 1 MGS game so SC is my choice. The gameplay is definitely there in SC. but MGS has cinematics and gameplay is overtaken by it.
But I would say that both MGS and SC have orignality and are not copying each other anyways. It just they are secret agent games doesnt means they are same. Also SC4 was good it was not bad. SC3 was too hard to pull off by many and SC4 made it too easy sometimes but the graphics were awesome and gameplay was decent.

This guy said it all right here.
That being said, MGS has my heart as well.
I thought the recent SC game, Double Agent was really fun but none of the SC games have kept me hooked for hours and hours at a time just to see what happens next in the story, or just to play the next completely unique boss battle.. plus the music in the MGS series.. I could go on and on about the games but i'll just leave it there.
metal gear was the worst game i ever played .looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong cut scenes and bad game play .look how he is swinging the knife .just if you are 15 or 16 yo you can go with it for the graphics kissing scenes. on the other side splinter cell is a very good game ..hail tom clancy.then who need american patriot story on the japanesse way. SC is and still have better graphics . relaistic gameplay.....in metal gear go to the inventory page and chosse to hide in a box you will find suddenly snake turn into a box who can handle pl this**** i would rather watch a movie than wasting my time on playing this game . just ps3 fanboys who like to say that their games are better and all this mazes so . you can know those guys from the avatars lol snake snake snake. SPLINTERCELL forever of course
and for the guy who said that Splinter cell is a bad copy of metal gear. are you blind did you see the bosses fightes the most stupid thing on earth !!!!! this game not mentioned for adults just for youngers with wide imagination that kind of imagination that let them think there is a ghost in their rooms cut the crap

I'm sorry but there is no way you are familiar enough with MGS if all you played was the second one. I would bet loads of money that is you asked any long time MGS fan which game was the worst they would point to that one.
Whoever said MGS wasn't a good stealth game, you need to read up. MGS invented the stealth genre, hell MG was made in what, the 80's? If you honestly think that MGS is not a good stealth game, I highly doubt you actually know how to play it stealthily (i.e. never getting on an alert, and if you are 100% masterful, not even caution outside of story events) and oh yeah, when you are in the shadows, and the only thing the terrorists can see are 3 glowing green circles and they are oblivious to the situation is sooooo realistic.... Light play was the only thing that Splinter did that was all that different. Now I don;t think the SC series was a bad series, but there is no way in hell it was and is better than the MG series (excluding ACID)
Snake and Metal Gear by far over SC, which got fairly repepitive very quickly (I finished 1-3 mind you) and lacked the entire badass/epic feel of MGS (albeit MGS was unrealistic in scale/boss fights)
P.S. God of War was TOTALLY AND COMPLETLEY a ripoff of DMC with more hack and slash/less strategy combat, and a greek story line and button mashing mini-games. However it was a fun game, just no where near as good as DMC
