I going with Metal Gear due to the great story that has. one linked to the other that s just great 20 years of HISTORY in the video game wolrd. waiting for the final chapter. SNAKE IS THE BEST
Metal Gear's zany storyline and wacky characters....I can't get into 'em. Then I consider Splinter Cell's fantastic multiplayer (on the fence about Double Agent's multiplayer) to Metal Gear's largely forgettable mp. So Splinter Cell for me.
it's ok to read your opinions guys, the question was wich one do you prefer, not why do you think the other game sucks, I think bot series have their good and bad things, I've only played metal gear twin snakes for the GC, and I think is a pretty good game, but to be honest i don't like that much the japanesse style of the game (im not bashing, just posting my opinion) and really couldnt get into it, maybe because i havent played classic metal gear, or MG3 SE or MG2, that's why i'd go with SC the first one I played was pandora tomorrow, and at least for me everything was a new concept of game, also i really liked the way sam fisher is, it's not the prototype handsome playboy guy. and snake its more the kind of badass-couldnt care if i die guy so continue posting guys!!!

But to answer your question, I'd go with Metal Gear Solid.
Definitely Metal Gear Solid (series), Snake. Although, I'm looking foward to Splinter Cell: Conviction. Previous titles were huge disappointments and I hope this one will change my mind.
metal gear solid i liked the story, if it had to be the most realistic stealth then splinter cell but metal gear solid overall with story, gameplay and online like quite good in terms of features imo
When it comes to the series as a whole I'd have to say Metal Gear, but Chaos Theory had the best co-op I've ever played. Why the hell they took it out of the series in 4, and decided that 5 should be a Hitman ripoff I have no idea.
metal gear by far. ive only managed to bring myself to finish the first sc game.
and snake is by far the better character. i actually care about what happens to him, as opposed to fisher. plus snake would definitely kick his ass in a fight
