Startup: Dashboard or Game?

Which do you use?

I've had my 360 almost two years and barely turned it to auto-start. I like it better that way. It gets annoying having to select the 'play game' option every time.

Oh yeah, I don't know if this happens with everyone, but when I start my 360 set to dash, it takes a little longer to sign into live than just starting the game.

I boot to the dashboard. Most of the time the game I'm going to play depends on which (if any) of my friends are online.

Dashboard because I don't always want to play the game right away. I like to look at who is online, check the marketplace, etc. before getting into a game.

Nope lol. I look through everything before i play a game. Normally spend a good ten minutes doing that.

Dashboard, same as the reasons mentioned above.

I think it's bull that there's no option to start the dash at YOUR section.

Dashboard, for the reasons everyone else has listed. I don't necessarily want to play whatever I left in the tray last time. This is a great feature, and consoles should have had it years ago.

Me too. I imagine Microsoft defaulted it to Spotlight, otherwise most everyone would change it to My Xbox, and there'd be far fewer ad views.

dashboard. Check out demos, dlc, watch a movie on netflix, maybe play an arcade game.

Dashboard because I don't always want to play the game right away. I like to look at who is online, check the marketplace, etc. before getting into a game.

What about those games that wont let you skip past the little intro until it loads?

I like to hit the button, leave the room, and let it load.

I hate looking at peoples avatars.

It takes like 5 or more seconds for them to load up, ESPECIALLY when your friends are in a party. :cry:

I start with the dashboard. I like to see the dashboard and, most importantly, which game I'm about to devote an hour to two hours to play:P

Dashboard. i like to see whose online and whose playing what first. And i like to see the ads and events.

I always load to dash board. I hate the fact that if I put a new game in it automatically starts it! I like to browse the dash board first!

The whole time I have had my 360 it's been set to startup at dashboard. I like checking out the marketplace, my downloads and the recent news and happenings now and then, and since the 360 is like a friggin ultra-gaming-PC-thing, it makes sense to have all of my options right out in front of me as soon as I turn the xbox on. Looking around the screen doesn't take a whole lot of effort, either.

That said, when I had my Nintendo DS I actually became partial to the game startup. It was fast, efficient, and I could always access the system screen by simply starting the DS without a game cartridge in its slot. The same could be said for the 360. Since I have never really tried the game startup on the 360, I might try it and find that I like it better that way. Actually, that might not be a half bad idea considering that I want to focus more on my 360 games right now than my arcade and original games.

I have it set to dashboard.

Dashboard for any variety of reasons

1. I like to see what my friends are playing
2. I like to check out updates to the marketplace, demoes, etc.
3. I like to sometimes play XBLA or Demos.

I never go directly into the game

Dashboard, so I can go check the marketplace, any new videos, and see what my friends are doing(To be fair,you can do that ingame).

I always load the dashboard first because i like to see if there are any new additions to inside xbox, spotlight or any new material from the marketplace.

It also then makes me enjoy the game more i think as i haven't just rushed straight into it.
