Stupid question, but never played XBL. Hook-up related. Help appreciated

Yes, since the Xbox 360 has an ethernet connection, do you absolutely have to have a broadband internet provider in order to hook up Xbox Live? I only have dial-up and was just curious as to how or if I could even hook up to Xbox live? I have always just been an off-line gamer and never really even thought of going live, but I have been thinking of giving it a whirl. I just wanted to know if I could having a dial-up connection and all.

Hell, I know I need to....XBL or not, lol. I just have never gotten around to it, but I eventually will because I just need to, regardless. Dial-up is a dinosaur, and I feel like by my still having it, I am going extinct.
