I can't wait for this game! :)
It will NOT be short - they are saying if you played just through the linear part of the story it would top 40 hours, but it is not all linear - it has an open free roaming world that will be much like Oblivian or the GTA series. They (they being BioWare by the way) estimate the out of box game will more than likely provide 100+ hours of gameplay for those that are seeking an adventure. Also they plan on putting addional planets, systems and adventures on Live in the future as downloadable content - so while waiting for the sequel there will always be a new adventure to be had within the ME universe.
Anyone who like RPG's is out of their mind if they don't think this is going to be a good game. If you don't like RPG's this is definitely not going to thrill you as this game has the potential to be one of the most in depth RPG experiences ever created.
Also I liked the combat system in KOTOR - but they have said that while the combat system in ME will require tactics to be implemented that there is some level of control over how the actual fighting takes place. On the ME boards one of the Moderators who's a BioWare employee said that it will be so customizable that if all you like is FPS's you can make it almost feel that way during combat - or for those who prefer a more traditional RPG combat system you can make it that way too and a bunch of possibilities in between.
This game I believe will be my choice for the Game of The Year - even with the other heavy hitters out there. Most magazines and gaming sites who have seen the demo say there is currently nothing that can contend with ME for Game of The Year - including H3. There are many innovative features to this game that make it the definitve next gen game to have.
:)
If Mass Effect is really only single-player and under 25 hours long, it will flop. Every next-gen shooter must have online functionality. People complain about Shadowrun's connectivity with PC gamers and complain about how it is essentially online-only; but seriously, a game without multiplayer is not worth the full price because it will only last you the time it takes you to beat the single player and to get all the achievements. You can't reap much out of a single-player-only game.killercuts3
What are you talking about willis?... Â
Games that are only offline or online tend to be the best games IMO if you think of games like:
Oblivion
RE4
Unreal Tournament
Fable
And the reason they are the best is because the devolpers can spend 3 years on the game and make it great and polished unlike games that gave average single player and mediocre online componants.
If your that ignorant about games then you shouldnt play them. And as a member of the community I redeem you of your future opinions and slap you with a cold fish.
I think that Mass Effect is going to be the best game of the year and for a long time. I have high expectations from BioWare. I cannot wait for this game to come out. I hope it comes in June and not in September.xTheExploited
Forget June and sept Bioware needs to spend the next 6 months polishing up the game and release in nov/dec. MS and Bioware should act like this is a killer app and release it the say time gears was release last year.Â

I think they should spend a little more time on it, but not that much, maybe like july, august, oh and is that No Apologies in ur sig, Cuz i love that song!!

No. SP > MP imo. Relying solely on MP to save a game is wearing thin on my nerves. 15+ hours and it's worth the price of admission, since 360 games of late are less than 10 hours long with varyingly well/not-so-well implemented MP.
Multiplayer lasts, single player doesn't. Face it, it's a blatant fact.
tell that to the people who have played oblivionÂ

It's crazy, thinking that you don't know where I came from with my posts, nor do you understand my argument. You are talking about the betterment of a game, I am talking about its longevity. You are ignorant of the fact that I was opposing one of the posters that said that Shadowrun is a rip-off because it is online-only and only has 9 maps. Now, in my posts, I was relatively speaking. Single-player-only and Multi-player-only. When compared, of course, the multiplayer will outlast the single-player-only game. That is where I am trying to get at. Nevermind downloaded content. It's obvious that by developers focusing on either aspect of the game, it makes the game better. Shadowrun is multiplayer-only, therefore the developers were able to give everything they had into just that aspect of the game. And although single-player games could be marvels in their own right; relatively, multiplayer will always last longer.Â

I can't wait for this game. I hate the 2nd and 3rd Halo games so hopefully this game will be more to my liking.m0n3zHow can you hate the 3rd halo game. IT'S NOT OUT YET

Yep its No apologies. One of eminems best. You a fan? There are three rpgs coming out before nov.(two worlds, blue dragon, and eternal sonata and there are two fps coming out before nov(halo 3 and bioshock) With ME being a combination of both, more rpg then shooter, nov. is a good time for me. Plus Ms could have a triple treat with too human and lost oddyssey around that time.

You were opposing me and you disapeared, so i came looking for you. You say they can put everything they had into this "new" shadowrun ( a completely new game trading on the legendary Shadowrun name imo ) Yet all they came up with was 9 MAPS?!? Yeah way to go ! woooo!    O_o    Mass Effect is going to span the life of the 360 Yes DLC invovled just like new maps, i hardly think a multi is going to last five years, people get bored, they move on. Multi has it's positives, and would out live alot of single player games, but not this one little boy. If you truely love multi so much then what are you doing posting in a Mass Effect thread. Piss off.

You may have just appointed yourself as representative of the most ignorant people on the forums. I wasn't talking about you, I was talking about this guy:
maybe because its a huge ripoff
70 bones for an only online game with nine maps

There was a reason I left the last thread, it was because I made a point, but you didn't get it. I just said, you know what, what the hell is the point anymore? You don't get it, you will never get it. I never cared about arguing with you, but you kept coming back like that bad cist on your vagina even though you didn't know where my argument sprouted from. You just assumed that you were the one I cared to mention in my previous post. I don't care what you think, ok? I don't care if you think Mass Effect will be a great game, that hasn't been established yet. What has been however, is the trivial fact that Multiplayer will always outlast Single-player games. Yea, I guess multiplayer games could get boring after 5 years, but you actually think people will still be playing a single-player RPG even 5 years after its release? Do you think, period? Saying Mass Effect will last the 360's life-span is making a heavy assumption; point being: you can't argue an assumption.
FASA can do anything with their game. Would you rather see some sort of revival of your beloved old RPG, or nothing of it at all? Way to go. They are only doing a favor to the franchise, they aren't destroying the franchise, so stop your blubbering.
The quote above was in a Shadowrun thread by the way. Now get off my nuts.
Oh and also, if you don't think I should be posting in this thread because it's only for Mass Effect, then why are you replying to me? Tard. Â

Oops my mistake then, But still its gonna be good regardless of how long it is and it could even be better because not everyone wants to play a 100 hour game.
But BAH o_O

This is an RPG. Pretty much like oblivion except even bigger. That game certiantly didn't need online play.
Although, free roam online like Phantasy Star Universe would be good. Lets talk about vehicles! I hear they are fully costomizable, and drivable!
I just heard you will be able to attach special weapons to your vehicles for combat choice! Fantastic!

Yeah, Oblivion doesn't really last does it? And by the way, Mass Effect's main story takes about 40 hours to beat and about 75-80 hours total of gameplay. And may I also mention its a trilogy?
It may be 40 hours long, but you can damn right assure yourself that people will be playing a multiplayer for a whole lot longer than 40 hours. By the way, Oblivion took 6 years to make, and until the "trilogy" is complete, then maybe you can compare it to Oblivion.
Oblivion took 4 years to make, it was started in 2002 after they finished Morrowind and came out in 06. Look Im a BIG Elder Scrolls fan but I believe Mass Effect will be a better game than Oblivion. I've read into Mass Effect a lot and I haven't found one thing I didn't like about the game. This game is not going to flop, I honestly think its the best game coming out this year even with Halo 3, GTA IV and many others. Single player does last, its lasted since videogames started and it continues to last today. Multiplayer is just an added bonus.
