If I just had to choose then most defnitely Fallout: New Vegas, but luckily none of us have to choose. I will own both day 1.
Obisidian whom is developing New Vegas has many of the Black Isle crew within it's team so anyone whom has played the original games like myself can only know why I might be more excited about this than Fallout 4 by Bethesda.
Fallout. I loved the 3rd installment. The VATS system was awesome, and the environment was a joy to explore. I'm eagerly awaiting New Vegas.
Mass Effect is a good game, but I just can't seem to shake the 3rd person perspective. Not a fan of 3rd person shooters, and that's what ME essentially is when faced with fighting.

Why? One game has a story and the other has one of the dullest stories on Earth. Some people buy RPGs based off of the story, characters, and setting. I enjoyed Fallout 3 a lot as the exploration was a blast and looking for some crazy side-quests was a lot of fun but the story was just horrible. They really need to improve the story in the next Fallout game as I hardly had ANY reason to complete the main quest. As with ME I was dying to see what happens at the end and to see how my choices are going to influence the next game. Though I am pretty sure you were joking. :P

I did not know that! Lets just hope they don't screw it up. I voted for Fallout, but I'll be the first to admit that I haven't yet given ME the time it deserves. Hopefully I'll remedy this in the next couple of months.
They won't screw it up. half of the team working on New Vegas made Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout Tactics and most of them work on the Van Buren Project, which is the REAL Fallout 3, before it was cancelled.
Tough choice, but there's not enough news about New Vegas yet. If I stopped paying attention to New Vegas, I probably wouldn't even know if it came out, so Mass Effect 2.
I love the FO series, but ME's story pulled me in and kept me going. I never got bored with it. I'm replaying it as a Renegade right now (will do the same for bad karma in FO3 sometime over the summer). FO3's side-quests and world interested me more-so than the story. I actually stopped playing it right before the end (I finally beat it the other day, only took me 5 minutes - literally - from where I left off). I'm more excited about ME2, though only by a minuscule amount!
Fallout 3 imo was fun but its replayablility was limited and got a bit boring. Mass Effect was superb in which I have played about 5 times now, although also samey the chat system and the ability to change play styles made it imensely fun.
As a result I want ME2 sooo bad and as for New Vegas I really dont give a sh!t as again it will just be oblivion with guns.

That's most politically incorrect description of any game. The only similarity between Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is the huge open-world and that Bethesda is the developer. They're both completely different games.

Good cos i wasnt speakin to you. I read your post about neverwinter nights but i really dont think that will make a huge difference, also i doubt that because the official line on vegas is, its not a direct sequel, however the gameplay is the same.

ME2 for me, the storyline was really intriguing and i want to see what happens next. The things i've read about more action shooter based combat and even more customization options(even though im going to keep the default shepard) is very tasty. I just don't get the sense that they are trying to do anything epic with FNV like they are with ME2. FEV is probably for themore for the hardcore rpgers.
I am so much more excited for Mass Effect2. Cant wait!!!!!!!!
Mass Effect 1 i got so addicted i just had to finish it! While Fallout3, later on it felt like somewhat of a chore to beat it. Still a very good game, just not on Mass Effects level imo.
Wow, I didn't realise that so many players that liked Mass Effect, didn't like Fallout. I guess it makes sense, since Fallout is a little more of a free roam do-what-you-want game and it's easy to get lost, and Mass Effect has a more guided feel. It's easier for non RPG fans to get into, but still I'm a bit surprised.
mass effect 1 was good but my vote goes with fallout new vegas because of the simple reason that fallout 3 was the most ownage kickass game i eva owned

Don't know much about New Vegas, so I'd probably go for ME2 at the moment just due to a lack of information. I am hoping however that New Vegas doesn't turn into dlc quality game with the mechanics cloned from Fallout 3.
Mass Effect 2 by far, the first was amazing, and the second is incredible and I have only played three days so far, Fallout 3 was way overrated, It bored me after a while, not a very good story
