Why would you be weary? Great rpgs are far in between releases. Sometimes it takes even years b4 another great 1 comes out. I'm just enjoying every single minute of this game because I know that after this it will be a long time before they make another great rpg. It's an excellent rpg!!!
The end takes like 5 twists at one time, it's crazy!

I'm awaiting this game to be released. Frickin next year or something... :(bad_fur_day
Fellow european, eh? I just don't get what takes a game half a year to get here. Still really looking forward to it though.
Its a fantastic rpg and up there with Lost Odyssey, mass Effect and Fallout3 as the best rpgs on the 360.
9/10 for me, its got a great story, fun combat and a huge world. Its also very long and has some great music.
I hated the demo but i LOVE the full version of this game. I highly reccomend this for anyone who is a fan of rpgs (western or jrpg)
I hope it sells well, I know Namco threw a lot behind that game. it sold well in Japan right?aspro73
sold relatively well yes (i heard something about a 92% selling rate per 360). Although Japan doesnt have a heck of alot of 360 owners, its doing well for the amount they have.
I also hope the game does good overall, as it was really put together very well and with alot of love and effor it seems.
Ok I've been playing ToV for 30 hours now & I got to say it's right up there with FF7, 10 & DQ8. I've never enjoyed an RPG game in a long time. It has 1 of the most memorable stories & characters and has some strategic battle system. I was wrong about this game I should have bought it instead of renting it, if I have known it would be this good.4dry4nTotally agreed. :D It's the best game I've played all year. Just beat it btw I'll remember it for a long time to come, and I'll be playing it again to try to do everything.
Question. Tales of Vesperia or Fable 2?kozzy1234
I own both games and while both are very good i think TOV is slightly better.
Tales = 9/10
Fable 2 = 8.5 or 8.8/10 for me.
Â
What in particular gives ToV the edge?
Â
And nice Dre avatar, respect.Â
I had so much fun playing it. I really cared about the characters.
Was anyone shocked when..
Flynns guard stabbed Yuri causing him to plummet into the ocean
Tales has a better story hands down imo. Also has a better soundtrack imo. While Fable2 has the advantage of having more random/extra things to do and has some better characters.
Overall both are fantastic rpgs imo, and reccomend both, i just slightly enjoyed TOV a little more (not much though).
Also good to see another Dre fan man hehe, wasnt sure if many on gamespot would know who is is/was 8)
This is definitely on my Christmas list, I've been looking for a long RPG that isn't turn based I mean I have Fallout 3 and Fable but their stories are just way to short without sidequest hopefully ToV will fill the void :) Star-Killer
It will. I beat it in about a little over 30 hours without doing any side quests.
:)
I've become increasingly bored with JRPGs...and then there's ToV. I haven't played anything this year that could nudge ToV out of my GotY spot..the only game that has a chance at this point is Prince of Persia.
Most of the time when i play an RPG i say that the combat is good.. for an RPG. The combat in this game is just good, period. I had more fun with it than DMC4. One of the things that amazed me was that each of the characters is so unique with his combat style. So if you get bored of playing Judith all the time (which is, of course, impossible), you can switch up to another character, like Repede, who's just as fun but completely different. The one thing is that it can take awhile before you get all the necessary skills to really experience the depth of each character's combat style, but the fact that you can carry over these skills to a new game+ means that the second play through should be even more enjoyable than the first.
This game has some great atmosphere and the story, while not the greatest, still very much keeps you interested thanks to great characters. Sure some of them are JRPG cliches, but they're well done JRPG cliches. I even found myself laughing at times, which is so rare in gaming. One thing about the story - this game actually has optional side quests that you can discover which will reveal more about the story or develop a character further. It's so great to see this kind of optional questing present in an RPG and even better to see it carry more significance than simply rewarding you with another weapon.
my first play through i clocked in at about 126 hours. You can finish it in 40 (there's an achievement to finish it in 30, i think)..but i really just got caught up. Sometimes I would spend hours just perfecting combos. Great game.
