Why oh why can't this game have co-op? It has everything that the "crappy" co-op games did/tried to do. Anyone else wish this had co-op? Better question, does anyone wish it doesn't get have co-op?

I hope it doesnt get co-op, unless it can be done without ANY downgrading or maninpulation of the core single player. This is a RPG that is single player, and i dont see why it should have co-op. Dont force multiplayer on things that doesnt need it, that's just my opinion :)
I agree. This is more of a single player type of game to me.I guess a PVP Arena could be cool but generally I prefer to play games like this by myself.

How would co-op change it. It would be the exact same game except with another player. Is Halo any different co-op than just singleplayer? I don't see how co-op would hurt Skyrim in any way. PvP would probably require some work to actually get to work, but co-op wouldn't need anything new besides allowing a second player to join in.I hope it doesnt get co-op, unless it can be done without ANY downgrading or maninpulation of the core single player. The only Co-op idea i would entertain would be local offline co-op so i can play with my girl We are both very big on Bethesda's games.

Only if it's PVP where you can invite 1 or 2 other people to an arena- but no matchmaking or co-op please.
Nope. The elder scrolls games have a terrific single-player formula. I would prefer that it is not messed with.
skyrim is doing great just the way it is, don't ruin it by making it 2 player and/or adding co-op. skrim might be the best rpg i ever played since everquest online adventures on the ps2
Only if they focus all their time and energy to singleplayer and come out with some free dlc later that gives it that ability. The multiplayer probably wouldn't have that much staying power any way. But the game does look stunning and I can't wait to get my hands on it.
How would co-op change anything? There is no such thing as a "Single player" game anymore. I forget which magizine it was, but they took a vote and over half say that co-op is a huge deciding factor. There is nothing I want more then to explore the frozen mountains of Skyrim.
Also, anyone saying that "co-op would ruin it for you". Don't play co-op. That simple. Options are better. If you don't want something, and you have the power to not do it, don't do it. Don't be selfish and say it would ruin the game because you don't like it. It would not ruin the game, and if anything make it better.
In this new day and age, co-op does make a game. And it sells more.
The problem relates to the developement time that would go into multiplayer. TES have always worked as great single player experiences. I would be concerned that using some of the developement team's resources to create multiplayer would take away from time that could have gone into the single player portion of the game.
There are already plenty of great multiplayer games out on the market. I'm happy to see Bethesda sticking to their guns and keeping this single player.
How would adding co-op ruin it? Playing with a friend takes away enjoyment from your games? I beleive in Bethesda's abilitiy to make a co-op game with a good story. Hell, their one of the only companies that I would have no doubt they could do it. I wouldn't even care if we had to wait an extra few months to get soild co-op with the already great singleplayer. If you think that singleplayer isn't down by now, you're mistaken. They could easily work on the co-op.

Sure they know what their doing, but they still don't have the game.

you don't even know me so shut the hell up don't assume anything about my life. and it would ruin this game because this game is the kind of rpg thats alot better in singeplayer. if you want a rpg thats online then go play everquest or world of warcraft
Some games are simply better experienced alone or at least just single-player. I mean, should they make Doom a co-op game, too? What aboutSilent Hill co-op? Ithink Resident Evil 5 is a great example of how to ruin a franchise by adding multiplayer where it doesn't belong.
I would be incredibly upset if they made Skyrim co-op. It would inevitably mean they'd cater parts of the gameplay and looting systems andquests and whatnot towards this mode and I'd prefer if they just stuck to a single vision and made the best single-player experience they possibly can.
Elder Scrolls should remain single player only series. We have enough co-op and online multiplayer games these days and not enough single player only ones. Thankfully there were a fair shair of good single player games just shown at E3.

There are quite a few single player games, most RPGs are single player, Mirror's Edge was singleplayer, Darksiders, single player is still around. If somebody is going to let the lack of Co op or any other kind of multiplayer keep them from buying a game, they're going to miss out on some amazing games, like Skyrim.

First off it scales the levels so if one character levels up too much the other one will either get eaten alive or the higher level would be able to plow through everything like it was nothing. The fact that accessing the inventory, spellbook, reading and waiting requires pausing and would make the game annoying as hell for both players. A number of the quests (judging from the previous games) wouldn't lend themselves very well to co-op, I mean can you imagine doing the find J'skar quest in Oblivion with 2 players? It would be beyond pointless. It could only be done with two systems because the game couldn't handle splitscreen, you'd run out of resources if the players were in two different areas even just a few feet off from each other because of the way it loads. And there are quite a few more problems than just that.
Believe it or not there ARE single player games that would just play out like crap with co-op or else they would have to either make it into an entirely different game just to accommodate it or basically build an entirely different mode around it. It's not about being selfish it's knowing that certain games just are not built for co-op. How many of the greatest games out there are single player only? Co-op/multiplayer is not necessarily what makes a game. Sometimes what makes a game the way it is is simply because it's built around a single player experience and adding co-op to it would end up wildly changing that experience essentially not making it the same game (especially not an Elder Scrolls game).

Why are you getting so bent out of shape? The bottom line is it would take away from the initial overall expirence because they wouldn't be as focused on the storyline and gameplay. They would have to take away a few things to do so.
Agree with Jad206. I love TES series of games, but I'd also absolutely love to see co-op added as well. The only issue is whether it'd come at the expense of the single player experience. Now provided they still ensure SP is as enjoyable and well constructed as always, how can people say co-op would be a bad thing (let alone ruin the game)? Don't like co-op? Pretty simple and logical answer I would've thought... play by yourself!
I'm typically a SP gamer, I don't even have Xbox live, but playing through the Elder Scrolls world with a friend who loves the games as much as I do (so my roommate) would be absolutely orgasmic. We spend hundreds of hours completely the games independently, joining up and experiencing it together would be brilliant. Even if we went off and did our own things for hours on end, but met up occasionally to do a quest together, or trade some gear, or talk about things we'd seen and done. Man, my laptop is rising up off my groin just thinking about it! :P
It could open up so interesting new concepts and paths in the game as well, strategic quests where the help of a partner could aid in the success of a quest or something. I definitely don't want TES to turn into a MMO with turns of idiots running around ruining the immersion of the game, but teaming up with a friend who you knows loves the game as much as yourself could really enhance the experience (and the possibilities) in my opinion. I think they'll end up incorporating it into an Elders game at some stage, but I can't see it happening anytime soon unfortunately. Leveling, or more specifically the difference in player levels, would certainly create some headaches.

This.
And whoever said that this game's world was meant to be experienced alone was right on. ES games are meant to draw you in and be very personal experiences. Playing with a friend and having him crack jokes and what not would take away from that. Of course I could simply choose to not use the co-op features, but why would they spend time adding something to a game if it could conflict with what they were trying to create for the player?
