That's it, Epic needs to do something about these quitters.

They need to implement a heavy penalty.  Something more then a measly 50 points.  No one really cares about points really.  They need to make it so if you quit, you are temporarily banned.  And the more you do it, the longer that ban becomes.

This is getting ridiculous.  I don't even know why these jerks do it but it's frustrating.  Either that, or make the games RANKED.  People who quit all the time will never move up in the ranks.  Therefore ranking would filter out the garbage.

well i agree, along with cheaters like spawnkillers, but heres the thing what if your modem gets unplugged by accident or the electricity is off for like a minute, then for no reason what so ever people would be banned, no they should have it like if they quit a match 3 times in 3 hours or so many times an hour or somehting like that, then it would fan out the quiters, and not ruin the game entirely

Agree, my 360 freezes up from time to time and I have honestly never quitted any ranked matches because personally, I hate people that does it, but really... there's this time where I just gotten 3-4 bad feedbacks when my Xbox froze.

I don't cheat in games. And I don't quit unless my entire team does. Because then, what's the point anymore? I just hosted a match. 4 on 4. by the 6th round, it was 2 on 1. WTF people? And it was only EIGHT ROUNDS!! That is not a lot.

Yeah I don't understand the little bastards. I always play and I always lose, but I never quit, even if I have like no kills, a down, and its round 15 on a first to 19. Even down 2 to 4 its still fun to try and at least chainsaw someone before you die.

ive quit before.. but my team was winnign first of all so ii wasnt doin it because i was losing. i did it because i had to go out somewhere. there shouldnt be severe penalties because there are people who just dont always have the time to finish the rounds 100 percent.

i just play 8 rounds max with no problems. 19 rounds is brutal if somebody on your team drops. just play shorter games and there should be no problem.

30 mins isn't huge if you have somewhere to go, by the time you get back, it should have been long gone. But if you know you've got 5 mins before it's time to leave, don't join a ****in match. And dude, I could videotape my 8 round matches, and show you how people quit. The SECOND they get killed, they are outta there. Whenever someone on my team quits, I'm like "I give it 10 seconds before they quit".

yeah people have honest connection issues time to time, so to ban or put a hefty tarrif on dropping out of a game would create an unfair atmosphere for them....if someone on your team quits good, more kills for you.  this sounds just as bad as the kid who thought since hosts get an advantage with the shotgun, they should start with negative points...... losing one guy is like playing with a really crappy kid, if you cant handle playing without 3 other kids holding your hand; then its on your head not everyone elses.

If somebody is away from the 360... its very simple to run straight to their spawn and get a cheap kill. Thats what I assume he means in a Gears concept. However... last time I played it, was SOOO Funny. Our guy was the last one alive, and there was 1 left on their team. So he runs over with a nade to tag him. (Our guy is motionless at spawn)... he runs over and as soon as he gets in distance our guy gets back to the console and chainsaws him. Hilarious... But they definitely need to sort out the quitters. I think a penalty of like 500 points would solve it to be honest

he might be talking about the kids who know theres a kid who doesnt play in a match and just stays where he spawns each round....ive seen kids that run right by someone in need to go for the free kill and get the cheap points and get others killed in the process...... or he could be talking about in player matches with teamkilling on where you spawn and get killed by the guy standing next to you......

No, no, no, no.

Allot of people don't quit but get disconnected because of the poor online system. A friend of mine gets disconnected all the time on Gears, but never has been on other games. A higher penalty wouldn't be fair at all. They either need to fix the online part (which they won't) or at least give a message of some sort to other people left, saying if the person quited or got disconnected.

yeah but then you help to probe the system is perfect......if somebody quits becouse they are terrible, then those 50 points hurt them more then those of us who play decently but get disconnected. also if they kid quits becouse he sucks its not much of a loss... on your part since he wasnt doing much to help.

Not always. I was playing Vegas 4vs5. I was on the team of four with a minute left of play, winning by 3 kills. I got disconnected, I signed back into live and the host contacted me to see why I left. So if someone gets knocked off/uits contact them before you take action.

Epic needs to do something about this game's online as a whole. It's just garbage.

The lag and latency are awful... when the game isn't bugging out, your host is seeing into the future and dogding bullets.

Not to mention that a majority of the people who play these days are just F-ing morons. I'm hoping Darwinism will run its course there, even if Epic won't.

I like this game, but I think the online is just a mess. I've got no real intention of buying Gears 2 when it comes out at this rate.

I hope Natural Selection takes it's course and kills off all of the idiots in the world.

Not only would it kill off 75 - 80% of the Human population, it would end food shortages...

you do realize that useing the live feedback system would do more than whining here?  none of us control live.  live will try to not put you in matches that with people you dont like,  and put you in more matches with people on your prefered list.  with the most played game on live being a 4 player match finding a game shouldn't be hard with people you do like,....unless they have put you on their dont play list.  perhaps you talk alot of trash they dont want to put up with???  if it's only a few people,  it shouldn't be that big of a deal,  if it's everybody there is usually a reason.  send an email to ms and epic.  if they think you have a valid point they'll try to fix the flaw.  they put a mute button in halo.

Wrong. The way online games are set up makes it so you will always be able to get stuck with people who you "avoid".

They should put these checks in order for quiters: 1. Their gamertag should also go offline (Due to disconnecting) 2. They check to make sure that for up to 5 minutes, they do not enter anouther 360 game ( IF you had to go out) The first check should go first, and if its posotive then there's no need to follow with the last one. Very few people will be bothered to go and disconnect all the time, and so there should at least be a big decrease in quiters. I don't think they want to make it ranked, because then it gets so much more competetive and is open to cheaters more. Everyone will cheat to show off their rank, but not many would to get on a leader board; very few people check.

Oh yeah totally cause if I have a real life emergency or something I should be punished for quitting because VIDEO GAMES ARE SERIOUS GODDAMNED BUSINESS!!! Get a life kid, seriously.

If you have a real life emergency, then who the **** cares about the video game? I'm talking the people who get killed and quit. If you'd actually read the thread before posting, you'd know that idiot.

All Epic's fault, really.  It's not just chance that their cheesy online play has turned to crap.  When you've got the biggest selling game on the 360, you're going to have plenty of online retards.  But that shouldn't stop the games from being good.

Halo 2 had a beautiful matchmaking system, even though people initially trashed it.  There were most definitely more a-holes in that game than any other before it.  But with the excellent party and matchmaking system, you rarely had to play with the same a-holes twice, and nearly every game was excellent.

Gears online play is an abomination.  For a franchise that is making people so rich, maybe an exceptional multiplayer system is in order.

Sorry but I dont think I have even been disconnected in Gears, happened in other games but I havent really seen my friends get disconnected much either, when your on the losing team and you just happen to quit, its abvious that there is a 90% chance you did it on purpose and it spoils the game for everyone else, they should have a harsher penalty. If they do it 3 times in 1 day in ranked matches they should be suspended from matchmaking for 48hours.

Seriously. When I look at Halo 2's online it was seriously an EXCELLENT set up. From a technical stand point, it set the bar.

Join the game.. how do you think I felt yesterday when I was playing 2 11 round games that ended up in 4v2 and the other team were a bunch of jerks and started tagging me?
I'm getting sick of people quitting. and i'm sick of people glitching like crazy.. especially the weapon slide. Epic needs to do something. It's gotten to the point where i barely even play the game anymore.
One more thing they need to fix is the connection and the difference between host and other players. I mean I have to ask who host is all the time. I can't play with Europeans EVER. I get so much lag.

When I host games, which is all the time, people wait in the middle like I use to do to get on my team. Nobody wants to fight the host.

Haha, true dat.  I never thought of that.  Fight the host and risk getting owned by the man with no lag.

WoW can tell if you get disconnected, or if you just quit. I'm sure Epic can too.SymphonicWaves

Yeah there has to be a way they can tell who's quitting and who's simply being "disconnected" cause way too many people quit for it to be a coincedence.

True, but I'm tired of playing with people who ****in suck and noobs. I will admit it, I'm good, very good, but I need a at least DECENT team to back me up. I'm tired of getting people who play the game like it's Rainbow 6, and thing a couple bullets at the body is gonna take them down.

Little kiddies dont bother me as much as the racists. I only quit when there's racism present or if my whole team quits. But I do think there should be a penalty.

You know if more than 2 people quit you lose the kills from the whole game right?
