[QUOTE="Making_Pudding"][QUOTE="dukebd699"] [QUOTE="Making_Pudding"]God, I hate that game. I don't know why anyone plays it. :[destef
It has one of the best stories on the 360.
I don't mean to be condescending, but if I wanted no gameplay and a good story, I would watch a movie or read a book. The point of a game is interactivity; FUN interactivity. Good storytelling is only a bonus.
Not even BioShock can survive without it's gameplay.
I can't comment on The Darkness' story, since I saw very little of it, but my inital impression told me that the tale was an overly dramatic one.
'Course, this is only my opinion. There are people out there who enjoyed the gameplay.
I'm confused by some of your comments. " I can't comment on The Darkness' story, since I saw very little of it, but my inital impression told me that the tale was an overly dramatic one." Can you explain? It sounds like you played the game for a couple of hours or less and then stopped.
I also dont understand when you said "if I wanted no gameplay and a good story, I would watch a movie or read a book." Then you say you can't comment on The Darkness Story?? How would you know if The Darkness has a good or a bad story then??
I rented the game and played it for a couple/three days. It was different. Not a big fan, I might rent it again.
Not trying to cause trouble, just wondering or confused, or both.
I'll address your concerns.
When I said, "If I wanted no gameplay and a good story, I would read a book", I was going by what dukebd699 said. It is his opinion that The Darkness has one of the best stories on X360, not mine. I was simply saying that a story is not enough to carry a game; it needs to be combined with decent gameplay to really shine. That is why we are game enthusiasts instead of literary enthusiasts. :P
