That was terrible..

That was the best E3 presentation EVER
I cannot believe how much awesome was in one show
The mainstream media is going to be all over Kinect and the ESPN news is going to hit all the sports markets
No one cares aout the "standard" games when it comes to the media, it's all about getting the casual and holy cow did they ever go for them
Microsoft = WIN x 10
First 30 mins awesome, last hour crap. Way to make absolutely no core games for Kinect and copy every Wii motion control franchise. The new 360 is cool, but at the end when crowd was given one for free I saw it as an apology for making them sit through that hour long Kinect showcase of casual crap that none of them cared about.
One thing is for sure Sony and Nintendo should both beat this presser with their own, the bar was set pretty low here today.

Fanboy much? You just got your MS fangasam on my shoes. Seriously stop with the damage control, saying this was the "best E3 presentation EVER" is like saying the Hindenberg was the greatest flying ship of all time.
EDIT: 911th post for WPack911 a personal milestone.

Please tell me you're kidding
You think Microsoft is making Kinect for the core?
Really?
The group of people that say "I'm never getting rid of my controller" seems like a great group to work with?
This is to lure the casual and their money to the 360 to fund controller type games
You didn't see that?
What do you think is going to get more mainstream press? The Gears 3 part or the exercise game?

I don't give a crap about the casual market, they have made the Wii a joke on many levels. Also, do you think Microsoft really needs money? They are richer then sin, that is like saying a fish in the ocean needs more water! Wii has it's motion controls build in do you really think MS is gonna sell casuals on $300 console and then an additional $120 accessory and then on top of that the games? No, that is way out of the casual price point and this is the one major reason Kinect will fail, the other being that it has nothing for the core.

Hate to break it to you but the casual is the one with the disposable income
You really think that Kinect is aimed at the core? That's why they showed a child interacting with a game? Because that's the average core user that plays on the 360?
Really, You really think this?
That presentation was amazing! All the big blockbuster titles look as good as ever, Metal Gear Rising is interesting, but what really stole the show in my opinion (probably only to me anyway) was the ESPN deal!I love it. Kinect was also insanely impressive. That thing is gonna sell, I just know it.

When did I ever say that Kinect is for the core? I said there was nothing on kinect for the core and that is a big mistake, because I don't know what world you live in but the age of average core gamer is 32 years old these days, I myself being 25 have plenty of money to spend on gaming and honestly that is what I like to spend it on, so yes they are missing the boat by not having anything for their loyal core fans.
Casuals that wanted to dip their toes into gaming already have a Wii, a Wii that came with all the motions controls built in and even a free game. They are not gonna go out and spend over $450 more on a new console, accessory and at least one game when they already get all the casual game fun they want from their Wii.
The market for this is already Nintendo's and Kinect's Wii Motion copycat line-up and high price have nothing that will even scratch that dominance.
That was............. one of the worse things I have ever seen in my life  Thanks for Microsoft for making a joke out of yourself and wasting my time. Kinect will fail so hard. No "casual" gamers are going to drop $300 on a console and another $100+ on a dumb camera. I am just so disappointed right now. The "core" gamers are the ones that have supported MS since day one, and this is what we get in return. Kinect. Great.

Why do you keep on saying that it's a mistake for Kinect not to be for the core?
The core does not want Kinect so why on Earth would they focus on them?
That's like someone that hates beef you're wondering why I don't offer them a steak
Also great about your life situation, I also point at anything I want and have it but casuals are the ones with disposable income.
As far as them not willing to shell out money I just have to say that you have not followed this generation as closely as you might have because casuals dished out 250 plus another 90 just to play one game and made it one of the best sellers this generation.

Believe whatever you want, the only sad part is that in a year's time when the Kinect is a failure you won't be around for me to say I told you so too. It is gonna fail harder then the PSPgo has for Sony, you can count on it, and when it does at least remember who told you so first.

1. No one with a Wii that only plays Wii Sports is going to buy this junk.
2. Any casuals looking to get into the market are just going to buy a Wii.
Microsoft is going to fail so hard with this dumb eye-toy rip off.
And it looks like the price got leaked on Gamestop: $150. Riiiiip off.
Not a great conference, Kinect seems to be a little more capable then what I thought it could be, but still not so good for games.
New slimmed down 360 looks nice, built in WIFI which many people ragged on MS for never having but I just got a new 360 right after Xmas, so I probably wont be picking one up

1. Wasn't talking about Wii Sports, it's Wii Fit. Users spent 340 dollars just to play that one game and the number one complaint from games like Wii Fit and EA Sports Active is that the user has to hold a controller. Kinext fixes that.
2. They might but now they have an option
Also Gamestop shows the Elite bundle for 399, since the Elite alone is 299 that puts Kinect at 100
The Kinect presentation was awful, it was just the Wii minus actually having something in your hand and no pricing is not a good sign. People aren't going to pay $300 bucks for a console and at least a 100 for Kinect to do what they can do with a Wii if they already own one. MS really failed to sell that thing to anyone and the fact that they seemed to have given up on the so called hardcore gamer even before really trying doesn't help them, because at least those people already have a 360. And according to G4, Gamestop has Kinect listed for 150 bucks, that would just be the nail in the coffin. Sepewrath
They already have the hardcore gamer
It's because they own them that they can expand to the casual, that's what this E3 was

I believe the Elite was getting a price drop to $250. The bundle puts Kinect at $150.
EA Sports Active 2, which they are showing now on the EA show, does not use the Wii mote for every workout. So that problem is fixed.
All I am saying is that I would be SHOCKED if this thing sold.
Like I said, the mainstream consumer isn't going to spend $450 to do what they can do on the Wii, but Kinect could have still found some success and made an impact on the audience going forward if they hadn't just basically said "Kinect is not for the Gears crowd" The so called hardcore gamer and the casual gamer are all just mainstream gamers, with two different taste. I'm sure the original plan was to try and appeal to the greater mainstream audience, not just one side or the other. But they have spent the last 4 years telling one side that motion controls are stupid and now there is no coming back from it, at least not quickly, so they seem to have just given up. I mean wasn't Fable suppose to use Kinect? Where was that? They gave up one half of the mainstream and Nintendo has the other half and its going to take more than, the Wii in HD to wrestle it away. They already have the hardcore gamer

Of course they'll spend 400 bucks, these are the same people that paid 340 to play one game and that was it because they didn't want anything else it offered.
Microsoft still isn't great about motion controls for it's games and that's why the games aimed for it's core don't have anything to do with motions, everyone knows that a controller is better for gaming.
What Microsoft showed off is the same kind of things that made Sync or anything like it such a great device that once you have it you can't do without it. ESPN and Netflix and video conferencing all points to Microsoft willing to give the user more instead of the one trick pony people have had to settle on for years.
As far as Fable no one knows what's going to happen there.
Honestly and I know I'm going to get a lot of flame for this.
* covers himself with a flame forcefield *
I'll still consider purchasing the Kinect, the reason being that I think that this thing, despite the awful presentation given at the conference is going to exceed people's expectations.
We are looking at a device that could be ahead of it's time, the fact that there is so much interactivity with the device also has me captivated, voice recognition etc.
While I may not be getting any virtual pet games anytime soon or Dance Central (Too white to play that game), I'm looking forward to what other games that the Kinect could support.
I'm also looking forward to the features presented such as interactive menus and the ability to talk with friends over a network.
To all of you that say that Microsoft epically failed today, you may keep your opinion, as for me, I believe that their strategy of presenting the stuff the hardcore gamers wanted to see and then gradually moving to present it's product to the casual market was a great strategy.
Also, let it be known that Microsoft is very new to the "motion capture" deal, you can't blame them for trying to expand their market, that is what most corporations do.
So yes, I will be one of the few to put the Kinect on my christmas list and I'll be damned if anyone tries to tell me otherwise.
No people paid $250 bucks as the price of entry and then spent more. Microsoft is asking for an extra $200 as the point of entry and then for you to spend more, so no, it's not going to happen. And people certainly aren't going to pay to say "X-box Play" when it would be faster to just press the play button. I'm watching my TIVO right now, I pressed play, I pressed pause, play, pause, its not as difficult as MS makes it out to be. It would be more of a hassle to use kinect to do it. And because MS isn't about its core, is the reason Kinect will fall flat on its face. You have a better chance of selling a $150 starting point, than a 450. If they hadn't put their foot in their mouth over the years regarding motion controls, they would have a better standing with their current audience. You think they don't want their average sports and FPS obsessed consumer to buy Kinect? of course they do, they just realize that they have made it a tough sale. Sepewrath
People payed 340 just to play one game elsewhere
A starting point of 400 isn't that far off when you can it for other things as well.
People have the choice of motions or voice for controls, no need for someone to ask for a remote to rewind something they just need to say rewind.
The reason that Kinect isn't about the core is why it will do well. Motion controls up to this point have been cheap and gimmicky and while Kinect is the best motion control to date it's still not perfect, maybe in time it will be but right now it's more then good enough to deal out the kinds of games that casuals eat up.
To try to add Halo and other games with Kinect would make it fail, everyone knows that motion controls aren't as good or precise as a standard controller. Microsoft isn't about to start saying that it is.
that was a pretty bland e3 conference for xbox. reminded me of how bad the e3 for the wii was last year. i like how they gave everyone a new xbox as a "sorry for this sub-par show guys". gears of war 3 and metal gear rising looked cool as expected. the only kinect game that looked even remotely interesting was dance central (my sister would love that & i might enjoy it some). can not see paying that much money for kinect though for the quality of games it showed. will definitely be buying the new xboxsometime soonthough.
