so if you already knew it was 1080p, then why'd you even ask? just so you could make a dumb topic about an employee that may have told you the wrong thing?jonwithoutah
No I didnt know what level of high def the cable went to and he said the 360 only went to 1080i. Do you work at walmart.
You know, you can diss the people that work at Walmart, but most of the time they hire nice people to work directly witht the public so they may know nothing about what they are selling, but they can still be helpful kinda.Banjo_Jake112
I agree - The Walmart employees at my store are always very cuteous and that's why I keep shopping there - other than the great prices (and they're open 24 hours). Personally I love Wally World. I just find it amusing to watch and listen to what "some" of the employees say. Others are very knowledgeable. :)
Hey:o, I work at Walmart(not in electronics). Hardly every buy games there, just consoles. I don't ever ask the associates for help, nine times out of ten I know more then they do.

Cool you work at one of my favorite stores then. :)
You obviously know what we're talking about though - it's not the store, and most of the employees are smart enough to say "I don't know" - if they don't, but then there are others...
And there the ones we geeks like to have fun with. :)
I actually had one guy tell me I couldn't use the Phillips HDMI cable with my 360 because it didn't say it was compatible with the 360. LOL
Any VGA, Component and HDMI cable can do 1080p. It's more important to know if your tv will accept 1080p over those cables.
Also, for the heck of it, I looked up what the current stats at stores are:
Bestbuy.com only mentioned this:
"Powerful 500MHz ATI graphics processor enables stunning 1080i high-definition visuals"
Walmart.com only mentioned this:
"three powerful core processors are poised to pump out 720p/1080i"
It's not the walmart employee's fault. The fact he went to double check online says he was doing his best to get the facts right but that outdated MS marketing threw him off. So all he read was probably directly what was listed online, again, not his fault.
I went to walmart recently in search of a HD cable.(mine got broke). I picked one up and looked at it but it didnt show if it went up to 1080p or anything. I asked the employee if he knew anything about it. He said I imagine 1080i thats how HD the 360 is. I said I thought it went up to 1080p and he said well let me look it up. I knew the correct answer but I didnt want to sound like a smart*** so I let him look it up. To my amazement he said yep 1080i. Well I was so stunned I didnt say anything. I still bought itand it still was 1080p. Anybody else have this happen to them.ndrewn
why bother asking if you already know. i work at walmart and i will admit some of the people in there are entirely clueless but you find that almost everywhere. problem is so are some of you customers that come in there for the simple purpose to see if you can get on our nerves or piss us off. however if walmart would hire people in departments where they are more suited there wouldn't be a problem like that.
i dont go to walmart anymore due to moron minimum wage employees, not low prices lol, and most of the time they dont have the item or its a different price in store than the website says it is.
You have to understand this, not everyone in Walmart knows about HD cables or HD for that matter. And before you ask, yes I work at a Walmart. The lady at my Walmart has no idea about anything in the electronics section, which kind of pisses me off because their really isn't a reason for her to be back there but I guess if you know the right people.
And to be honest I haven't been to a store, including gamestop, where I actually found anyone that knew all the facts. That is one of the main reasons why I don't shop at gamestop anymore because I ask them a question like, "are you pre-ordering *insert game*?", they most of the time give me a strange look and say no that they have never heard of it.
Your best bet would have probably been doing a little more research on your own or going to a Bestbuy or Circuitcity, going to Walmart and asking a technical question was your first mistake.
At my Walmart the main guy in Electronics is a HUGE PS3 fanboy and everytime I buy something for my 360 he tries to convert me to the PS3 telling me how much better it is. I haven't told him yet that I already own both consoles because I like watching him make an ass out of himself! :) LOLDataDream
Lol. That's funny. I just bought a really nice HD widescreen monitor (Westinghouse). Loving every moment of it.

hey man, score me some discounts and free games.
I hate this I went into gamestation last week andI was standing there watching the PS3 gametrailers and GTA4 was playing, this sales guy comes upto a teenager next to me and says "thats the new GTA4 you know?and it's exclusive to the PS3have you got one?" so boy says"no but Im getting one now"I couldnt breath I left before my head exploded.boyinfridge
LOL, what is with people at some of these stores? It's like sony is paying them to sell sony merchandise. The same thing happened to me at Bestbuy. I was standing in the game section when an employee came up to me and started talking about the then not yet released PS3. He told me all about how sony was implementing a HD-DVD drive to compete with MS and how the PS3's processor (which he didn't know was called the Cell) was 10 times faster than MS 360. I swear to god I wanted to hurt this guy because one he was wasting my time and two he had no idea what he was talking about.

Personally i'm starting to see a shift in my area where most of the employees are 360 owners now whereas a year ago they were all waiting for the PS3. It is funny how that marketing BS about XX times faster this and that has permeated everyone's minds so much that they actually believe it.
My question is -- then why can't it run Madden at the same framerate as the 360? If it is 10x faster then should it run at least twice as well?
As far as Walmart -- asking any employee at any big box store a question is always a challenge although i find Target to have fairly informed employees. Even Best Buy I've gotten totally wrong info from someone who was so sure of him/herself. The problem is the people who make themselves out to be experts so when they tell others it becomes a chain of disinformation. I would rather they just say "I really don't know and I don't want to misinform you."
Ive worked for Walmart when i was younger and a handfull of videogame retailers when I was younger and built custom pcs on the side. Of course I usually knew more then most people about electronics, but I never liked going out of my way to correct peoples mistakes on the subject.
We call those people Video Game Snobs.

What does minimum wage have to do with anything? You sound like the type of person that expects a carpet to be rolled out while your walking to the important stage with your name displayed.
Oh and not knowing of certain things that you know about doesnt actually mean that they are morons. Maybe if the store had taken time to train the workers about the department they are working in you would think other wise.

dude, if you barely get paid, you wouldn't be happy working in a dump like that.

you know why they dont say it to everyone, its because customers are axxholes who turn into 8 year olds when walmart doesnt have something they want, like its the employees fault when they run out of something.
