Regular Edition, for sure. Collectors Edition, thats a push. Legendary Edition, already sold out. So yeah, I think you could get the regular edition without a problem.

ummm a lot of people who played the second game and lost all repect for halo. as for getting a copy w/o reserving you should be able to but u might have to shop around like target and hell (wal-mart) prob not at a place like gamestop.

I'd be quick if I didn't pre-order. Set your alarm clocks or go to a supermarket that sells them!

Heck, I live in the middle of nowhere, the only store we got within 2 miles is a 7-11. And they're selling Halo 3! Go figure.

RIIIIGHT so what this dude obviously meant to say was a lot of people he/she knows who played the second game lost respect for halo..... However this dude/chick obviously never played any other game for xbox... have you? Halo 2 was far better then halo in every aspect... The store right down the road from my house has already sold 1000 pre ordered copies of halo 3... I would have to say that if you did not pre order then you better be standing in line at midnight...

Yeah, you should be just fine if all you want is the regular edition. My local GameStop tried to get me to buy the Legendary edition ("Quick! Before they're all sold out!") but I would've regretted that massively. Really, what would I do with a silly plastic Master Chief helmet and a few extra disks? All I really wanna do is play the game :). By the way, I heard that Micro$oft is turbopumping the number of regular edition Halo 3's in anticipation of massive demand, which just makes sense, considering how popular this game's gonna be. I should also say, though, don't buy it on release day, or you'll be waiting in 10-mile long lines.

Why pre-order?

I guess I've never understood this practice, most stores like Best Buy have truckloads of them on launch days

Unless your getting some toys or something to go along with like the helmet etc...

if you live in a big city there is no need to preorder unless there are specials that go with it. bestbuy has a preodrer H3 and get 1600 ms points for $5 special
