I have never played any previous Def Jam game, so maybe that is why I enjoy the ICON demo. It's kind of like NBA Street Homecourt, I like it a lot, but had never played any other Street game before. I guess it helps that I don't know what I am missing sometimes.Joeker501
You may be right in this regard. Homecourt is a step down from the previous versions and from reading the review on Icon this is another big step backwards for the series. The reviews I have seen haven't been good, which is what I was expecting, b/c like these other folks the demo wasn't fun.
Homecourt got good reviews. Nowdays people seem to consider good reviews > 9.5. If that's the case you're either very short on cash, or maybe your metric system is disfuctional.
pre-ordered Icon, long, long time ago.

Take reviews for what they are and from who you generally agree with. Gamespot and IGN are two that I frequent the most and I still don't see eye to eye with them on games. 1up I read, but tend to be overly critical from time to time.
Homecourt did get very good reviews, 8.8 average on gamerankings is good. IMHO though its terribly shallow and worth a rental at best. $60 for a game that can be beaten in two days along with 900 of 1000 achievement completed isn't worth the buy.
Icon is getting decent reviews, 7.5 average on gamerankings...I haven't played the full game so I can't give an opinion, but the demo wasn't good.

Sure m8, I guess everyone entitled to their own approach on a item in general or a video-game in this case. Myself, for instance, appreciate a game for qhat it is not for the time it took me to finish it (come to mind Far Cry 360 wich takes a long time to complete and, for me, it's a sub-par game). I don't need a game that lasts virtually forever, I just want it to give me a good time, and if it does it will go proudly to the collecttion shelf. I, also, don't rush to "finish" games, I tend to try to appreciate every line of code.
Anyway, I like to collect games, quality ones. There are people who collect stamps..., coins... ;)
But I can be very wrong, you know... As I don't like demos, it kinda ruins the WOW factor of inserting a brand new DVD into the wonderfull machine. Yeah, I know, it's kinda stupid and sometimes (rare occasions though) a money-saver thing that I'm not taking advantage of, but I love the "virgin" smell of a new game...

Understandable and fair enough. I also, don't rush to "finish" a game. Homecourt lost points IMHO, because its didn't have any value past one play through. Yes, I enjoyed myself while play it, but that charm was lost about half way through the game and as such has no repeat playability and shouldn't be in anyone's library b/c of this setback.
But like you said to each his own. We play games to have fun, what we do before, during and after is personal opinion.
