if bioshock is indeed better than gears of war... this new rating system is in increments of 5... so unless it gets a perfect 10, it cant have a higher rating than gears! My guess is that it will get a 9.5 or maybe a 9.0 but i highly doubt it will get a perfect 10... its not fair!
I'm not a big fan of the new rating system either. Now, too many games will get the same rating and it will either be harder to get a 9.0 or higher because they are only 3 ratings to get to achieve that or that same reason will make it easier to be an AAA game. The rating system is fair. What is not fair is that all of the older games will keep their current ratings, but that would take way too much time to change.
Why does that matter? Bioshock will (by all accounts - haven't played it yet) be an awesome game - whether they score a 9.0 or 9.5 or 10.0 will not change that. And whether or not it is better than Gears will be up to the individual to decide, regardless of Gamespot's score.
it should have stayed the same, cuz it was more accurate and now the ratings are kinda off, since theirs a big difference between a perfect game (10) and a 9 or 9.5

Who cares!!!! its a RATING, AN OPINION.. Play the game and form your own, who cares WHAT THEY RATE ANYTHING
I think the majority of Gamespot does as well but Gamespot won't change it all. But whether Bioshock gets a better ranking than Gears is not important, whats important is what you feel about it and if you think its better than Gears than thats all that should matter.
ya ive switched over to gamerankings to compare games now because the new .5 rating system is just plain stupid, it really does help compare two games that are close in quality but you cant decide which one to get.
