I'm installing Mass Effect on my hard drive now because Iheard it helps with the pop-in and I was wondering how other games benefit from it? I couldn't do many more because of my meager 20 gig hard drive, but I was just wondering if any of you have seen noticable improvements on games that didn't have such glaring technical issues.

I haven't seen any major improvements.

What I like about it is that it keeps my xbox quiet, and also a lot cooler as well. I have a first gen xbox, and it heats up like a stove. Without the dvd drive spinning all the time, I have noticed a much cooler xbox.

With games, load times are literally milliseconds shorter, but that's about it.

I have a 20gb HDD as well, but not a lot of stuff on there. So I usually fit 2 games on there.

Installing Mass Effect doesn't do anything significant. The pop in is still there and the elevators still take forever. All an installation does is stop the game from stalling when you run too fast and say "loading".

Damn, I wish I could afford a bigger hard drive. Looks like most of my games would benefit, and I definitely like the idea of not stressing out my console as I'm already on my third one, all replaced under warranty thank god. Thanks for the info.

I like installing games. Even if there isn't a significant change in loading times, I like my 360 being quieter.

There are usually noticeable changes.

I install all games except for Halo3. Halo3 is slower when installed.

With Mass Effect the texture pop-in is greatly reduced. I don't even bother playing the game without it installed because it annoys me so much.

I love having the option to install games and I do it for games I know I am going to be playing a lot . Right now I have all 4 Lost Odyssey DVDs installed along with Gears of War 2. Runs quiet, load times are improved, assuming they have the space why wouldn't people want to install?

at the VERY least I install all my games just so the disc is not spinning 100% of the time. My 360 is quiter, cooler (which means longer life), and it saves on electricty. maps load faster on multiplayer. just like having a raptor drive on your PC.

Installing games is better for your system. It makes gaming less noisy as well.

I agree. It also saves wear and tear.
