*Ahem* Alrght fellahs, get out your last chuckles now. Yes, I'm a PC guy on a 360 forum... Awkward.. Rather than waging war w/ ye console-ers, I am here on a mission to decide whether or not the Xbox is the console for me. 'course, I'm gonna suck balls with those controllers til I finally get used to joysticks, but content is the real deciding factor here.. That whole "The PC has better grafx" argument is getting old. Both look good, both play well, so who gives? I wanna know if all of Microsoft's marketing is worth it. I'm not a huge Halo fan, but I hear about all these exclusives and how the consoles have far less lag and bugs than the PC. I wouldnt get a PS3 cuz well.. The 360 is supposed to be much better.

I want to keep my PC, but also have a 360 w/ Live Gold. I know I would get games like Conviction & Assassins Creed series on the 360, but thats like four games... Not much, in other words. Since I'm no Halo nut or Gears of War fanboy, what features of the 360 would really entice me? I alrdy like the idea of playing splitscreen MP, having less bugs in my CoD, no pesky DRM to worry about, and more demos but rly... I feel like there should be something else, something to make me consider a $300 console + controllers + Live subscription etc.

P.S - I'm a shooter fan; I play mostly first-person shooters, but I enjoy third-person as well.. if thats any help...

I really don't know what to tell you in this case. I can't think of anything you might like that you won't be able to play on your PC.

the question is, do u have friends that play on xbox live? if you do, get games to play with them.

honestly though, if you don't care about halo or gears, get a ps3. the only reason xbox live is considered "better" is the social aspect with party chat (some say format, i don't mind ps3's though), and well ps3 has more varied exclusives as a second console to owning a 360. so if you have friends that play consoles online, get games to play with them, otherwise, get a ps3 to compliment your pc.

I wouldn't trade my 360 for anything in the world. I was actually a PC gamer too before I hopped on the Xbox bandwagon. I just wanted Microsoft's expertise in the PC realm but on a console. I like it better because everything is streamlined and everybody gets the same experience.

I know this isn't alot but most of the time you get first dibs on any of the COD map packs. So if your into COD then that's a plus. Then like they said there is the party chat where you can get all your friends in and have kind of a social gathering. Plus I just kind of like how the Xbox 360 controller feels in my hand, it's a little heavier than a PS3 controller and I like the sticks diagnol like they are. Don't get me wrong, I'm not some kind of PS3 hater or anything, I've played a PS3 at my friends house and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it except it felt weird in my hand lol. Because I hadn't played a Sony console since PS2. Plus I don't have enough money to buy a PS3 >.> But yeah I would reccomend a Xbox 360 over a PS3. However what I would do if I was you is like go to a friends house and try out both if you have any friends that have them. Then see which one you prefer, because ultimately it's your decision and you will have to live with it.

I was primarily a PC gamer until I was about 28 (I'm 30 now) and now I'm primarily an Xbox 360 gamer. I got tired of constantly upgrading PCs, installing drivers, patches, not having things working, etc.,etc. You can't beat PC gaming when your PC is new, can run the best games at top settings, and everything is working right. However, you can't beat console gaming for the convenience. I'm at the point of my life where the convenience of a console with a 7+ year lifespan trumps a gaming PC that can run games on top settings for a year and half or so. I basically just use my gaming PC for MMOs now.

All valid comments. Thanks, guys. I'm still not sure. I suppose the PS3 does have the Uncharted series, GoW, and KZ, but their multi-platform titles are sometimes inferior due to how hard the platform is to develop for. I would get a 360 if i got a console. I believe I may also give Halo another chance. I play it @ my friend's house, but now that I think about it, it seemed like a good game. I'm not a huge multiplayer guy, since I suck at multiplayer in any form whatsoever, but I like the option of playing w/ my pals, almost all of whom have 360's. I would probably just get the 250 gig Slim model that comes w/ Alan Wake & Forza. Alan Wake is supposed to be a lot of fun, despite bad voice acting. After I finish those games, I guess I'd prolly get one of the Halo games.. Most likely Reach or Halo 3... (I still dont rly know about Gears of War.. I'm not a sissy or anything, but when violence is pointless and dumb, it just bores me.)

Is it possible to jump in from Halo 3 or Halo Reach and understand the story, for the most part? Or would I need to start w/ Halo 1?

I don't think you would have a hard time understanding the Halo 3 or Reach story if you got a recap of some sort, but I personally think the Halo games should be experienced in the order in which they were released.

I have a pretty decent PC still and a decent laptop as well... never use them for gaming anymore. Honestly I just decided one day that PC game playing while very good just wasn't worth it. I've been working with PC's since the Trash 80 and even though a lot of PC only people will tell you that it is all butter when dealing with them... we all know better. I work with them and support them for a living... PC's always require work. Sometimes it's hardware or drivers, or viruses or blah blah... I know you know this so I wont go on.

On the other hand, I lose a little graphic umph and settle on a different control scheme to have my gaming of choice on a console (360), but..... if it goes bad I send it in, my options are more limited which makes it easy for me. Beyond that I pay the $25.00 a year for the extended warranty and never ever worry about my gaming systems again.

So yeah I admit that PC's do things that a console can't, but it comes at a price I'm no longer willing to pay to have my gaming enjoyment.

PS3 is supposed to be worse online wise, but to be honest the PS3 has some of the best exclusives - Killzone 3, Heavy Rain, Resistance, Uncharted, etc. From a multiplayer standpoint 360 will win. But nearly all 360 games have PC Versions so if you have a PC that is up to scratch I would stick with the PC or get a PS3 for exclusive titles.

I have a powerful desktop. I only use it for MMORPG's and a very few of my favorite games. Why? Have you heard of FUTURE-PROOF..?? I play most of the time on my 360 and a handful of exclusive games on my PS3. TIPS: -If you have an extra amount of money or a stable income, try to get the 2 console. I promise you, you won't regret it. -Assemble a desktop instead of buying a package. -Don't abuse your desktop in gaming. For me, my maximum playing time on my desktop is around 3-4 hrs. Your unit will last much longer, believe me. Same goes for the console, though I tend to extend my playing time on a console around 5-6 hrs on a full air-conditioned room.

Alright, I think I decided. I will get a 360, not a PS3, at least for the moment, and I decided to give both Halo and Gears another chance. I'll play the demos, see if I like it, if not.. oh well. Other games r out there on the Live service. I also think Vanquish looks cool, and third-person games r said to have better controls on the console versions due to the gamepads. (In a way this is BS cuz PCs can hook up gamepads, but it isnt worth the extra cash.) I also loooove the idea of not having DRM in the games. The console itself is the DRM, no need for annoying "constant internet connections" to play Ubisoft's games. I'm also sick of those bugs in CoD, and that stupid nonsense about how the PC is a "dead" platform.

If playing good games w/my friends means a 360 or a PS3, I'm more than willing to do that.

P.S - I still think I would play the Half-Life games, and the majority of my FPS's (if they r not buggy or heavily DRM-ed) on my PC.

Please don't ask if you should buy the 360. Also, use the Game Recommendation Thread for suggestions on what games to buy as well.
