yes, i think it is just activition giving the middle finger to EA with skate. skate series put something new to skateboarding with the right analog stick being able to do tricks with it. by the people adding a board it adds something new to the game. they took something and added to it. i think it will be the end of the tony hawk games for a while. i havn't touched the series since american waste land.

If that is the actual price, it certainly wont help the Tony Hawk franchise. The reason why its sort of ok for the music genre to charge big money is because one, you don't have to buy those things, though not buying defeats the purpose of buying the game, however the option is there. Also when you spend 200+ dollars you have a 4 player game and everything you need, this is just for one board, thats not going to cut it in the mainstream market.

im not getting it, i want realism and authenticity, ride definitely doesnt have that. it looks horrible, skate 2 is lame in my opinion too, its incredibly arcadey and unrealistic with physics and i hate the city it has no good skate spots in my opinion.

Yes, death is imminent. Then again the series has been in the dumps for a while now. Skate isn't much better. That gimmicky trick system is just that, a gimmick. It's not fun, neither is it accessible and it's hardly realistic. The early Tony Hawk's were ingenious and truly classic games (especially the third one), but that was because they hadn't been done before. Now we've got all these skate games to choose from, a $120 price tag certainly isn't looking appealing to anyone. Might as well pick up a copy of Tony Hawk 3 for like 5 bucks.

i love the control scheme in skate actually, it allows you to do legit flip tricks, in the thps game you always have to be in the air to do them so they are always late flips i always hated that. but yeah i dont find skate or skate 2 realistic, i hate how whack the physics are when it comes to skating handrails and gaps.

I hope it is. I hate this genre. Spend time making real games. With Ride, they're practically telling people to ride a real skateboard instead of a game.

I though Skate was great at portraying realism. And the analog stick control is definately the most authentic control scheme around - and it actually makes sense.

In all seriousness I loved the unrealistic atmosphere in the first couple Tony Hawk games.

wow cant belive ppl are mouthing skate.....i skate in real life and honestly the controls are really well done...your thumb takes the place of your back foot on the board....but i agree that the tony hawk ride looks ridiculous, and i cant believe they would try to charge 120 bones for it sure skate 2 could have been done better, but the genre will not die....i dont know why ppl want it to die, if you dont like it dont play it i love the skate franchise, and i know im not the only to say the least

I agree with volcomstoner, skate is by far the best thing to happen to the skating genre. Everyone was probably getting sick of playing whatever was put out by Activision since there was no competition. EA did everything right, the controls are spot-on, the gameplay is realistic and overall the game just saved a genre that would've died out without this to be honest.

Last good skating game I played was Tony Hawk's Project 8. Yes I played Skate, and I thought it took itself too seriously.

The THPS series was downhill since American Wasteland. THUG 2 was the last exceptable game.
