What would you choose if there was a game that only had 2 difficulty options: one being too easy and the other being too hard?

I'd rather play a game that's too easy. If it's too hard I'd get way to frustrated.

If I'd had the option to replay it I'd do the easy one first then go to the hard one after.

Well when you say "too hard", that gives the impression that you'd be unable to complete the game due to the difficulty. So I wouldn't see the point in choosing said game. If the game is too easy it might be a cake walk but you'd probably have some fun and you'll actually complete the game.

hard all the way.

i dislike games that force me play a lower difficulty then there is. last game i just played force me was dead space. the game forces you play on normal to unlock the hardest difficulty. and that stuff makes me mad.

you can't play on what you want even though there's a setting for it. every game i max out the settings unless i'm in a rush to beat the game and get it back to a friend. and half the time i wont play it if i dont got enough time for it.

easy games are no fun to me. i want a challanage along with the story. runing around in a game getting hit by everything and still pass the missionis such a joke i won't finish a mission

I take "too hard" as: "You'll die 10 times before you can finally kill this boss"

I hate easy difficulty on games. It's no challenge. Especially in shooters. On easy difficulty, the gameplay experience is completely different. You don't need to worry about taking cover or defense. You just mow people down without regard for your own in-game safety. That's no fun. I want to get to the end of a game and feel that it was some sort of accomplishment.

Ideally I play on normal mode, but in the situation you described, I would probably take easy. I hate when a game is too hard and it's just frustrating enough that you end up not wanting to play any more. Easy games, on the other hand, can still be fun to play.

Easy of course. If a game is easy you can have more freedom in what you do in it. If a game is too hard it gets frustrating and you don't feel the need to play it as much.

I like a good easy game sometimes to relax with and just play around. I dont like to get too stress out WHEN IM PLAYING A GAME. They are meant for recreation and entertainment.

If the game is too hard I will try to play it again and again until I improve and beat it.

I'm a Normal difficulty kinda guy, but with the choices before me, I have to pick easy. I don't play a game to die repeatedly. I play videogames because I have an insatiable need to feel like the fist of an angry norse GOD!

Here what they mean to me:
Too easy mean that they are it easier than the level the player pick. Such as hit takes no damage or the enemies does not move.

Too hard mean that the enemies can kill you through walls.

Too hard it too vague. I have played through the force unleashed on sith master difficulty for the achievement. That was too hard. Only game to make me rage on the 360 was however, medal of honour: airborne where they just put heaps and heaps of nearly invincable 'nazi elites' in the final mission to make it challenging. THAT was a dumass kind of hard that just ruined the experience. On the other hand when I finished the sith master difficulty I was happy because it made the game SO much more interesting and gave a good fealing of achievement. If I had to choose only one I would choose too hard because its more fun, more challenging, more rewarding and makes you a better gamer.

Depends on what you mean by hard. If the game gets harder because it requires faster reflexes and a bit more strategy to tackle the situation then I'm all for it. If the game gets harder because of cheap deaths then I'd rather play an easy game (Ninja Gaiden is my only exception) .

I can't say I'm a big fan of either. If it's too hard It'll feel like a waste of money if I can't even manage to get a few hours into the game. I'd manage to make it far in an easy game but if it were too easy it'd probably feel dull. I guess if the easy game gave you a large variety of things to do then it being too easy might not immediately bother me.

I play games on easy difficultly first just so I can enjoy the game, I only go for hard after finishing the game and I well.. really like the game, so out of the choices I'd be playing it on the easiest.

Too easy games are boring, too hard games FTW. I even beat a lot of games on the hard/hardest difficulty too.

Generally, when I get a game with mulitple difficulty, i like to start on the middle difficulty(s). For example, in Gears of War 2, I started on normal. Then, once I played through once, I do the harder difficulties. (i.e. hardcore in GeOW2 and then eventually insane). But id rather play too easy than too hard because i dont want to get to frustrated.

too hard for me, if you really get frustrated over a freaking campaign, you're probably 90% of the time not good. campaigns nowadays are almost ridiculously easy even at the hardest difficulty, get better. Now if you're talking old nes games then those were ridiculously hard but also the definition of an achivement

I think there is a need for both types of games. Sometime you're in the mood to really grind it out, and sometime you just want an enjoyable cake walk.

I would prefer to be playing a game that was too hard, if its too easy i would get bored after like an hour and i couldnt imagine ever putting that game back in my disk drive. If it was "too hard" (which in my opinion there has never been a game so hard you cant complete it) then i would enjoy it alot more, granted i would get frustrated with the game but the feeling of accomplishment after you complete the game when it has been so challenging makes it all worthwhile, afterall isnt that what games are about?
