Yeah the big robot with the hammer/club after you mount it use the right stick to kill him faster. I thought it was good but the combat with the right stick i'm not sure about that. Its not comfortable and i think there was room to use a face button for the melee and they should have used the right stick for the camra. I feel like they wanted to try something new and thats fine but it does take away a little bit without the control of the camera and a comfortable combat system. Overall i think it is a good game and i'm buying it but mostly for the co-op i think this is a great game to kick off the fall line up but will fall short of the major players like fable2 and gears 2.

Yeah, I was having a problem with that as well. It might be a bug. I went next to it and "A" green button pops up on the upper right hand corner of the screen but nothing happens, lol... I agree with all of you guys. Combat feels weak the majority of the time but when you nail those string-chain attacks, it feels pretty wicked. The problem with that, there's too much inconsistency. Sometimes I'm feeling almighty and powerful laying the smackdown on my foes and then the next moment, my controls is going all wacky. It sucks how they didnt include a lock on system. I found myself having to shoot aimlessly in the direction the enemy is standing and then it finally locks on. When you're fighting the troll, it just doesnt feel right without a lock-on combat system. I was firing the bullets in order to lock on and find his weak points when I should just be able to lock on and scan his body parts without having to fire away, wasting ammo. I think it's just plain dumb. And running up and meleeing it isnt going to help you since he does the AOE attack. Another thing I wanted to point out that really killed the fun with chain attacking were the stupid missiles coming at you breaking your combos. I found it annoying and unnecessary. Funny thing, the camera was the least of my worries when it bashed on pretty bad in previews. I thought the camera was pretty good, although I prefer to control the camera with the right control stick.
The right control sick for attacking, doing chain attacks is a neat idea but it should be more of an option than primary controls. I prefer being able to hack n slash with the "A" button and having the option to do string attacks with the right control stick. And I felt like the controls whether it be pressing a single button or doing string attacks, felt like it had a 0.5 second lag to everything.
The Angel of Death coming down to carry you away everytime you die is ANNOYING! It really breaks down the gameplay. I dont know about you but I want to go back into the action, right away. But unfortunately, we have to wait 20 seconds for these angel to do whatever the heck she does.
Overall, I think they tried too hard on certain things and it was overambitious when they should have kept things simple and grounded. Voice acting is pretty good but it could be better. And the graphics looks like it has been through beat up and banged up because of the incident back when Epic Games took away the rights to use the Unreal Engine and they had to build the game's graphics engine from scratch. It shows some inconsistency although it is pretty much up to par with some of the titles out now but by no means revolutionary or evolutionary. The demo was lengthy, including the long angel of death sequences, I was able to squeeze about an hour out of it with more deaths than I'd like to enjoy due to clunky controls. It's surprising to me how Silicon Knights still has all these problems with the game that was in the works for so long. Cliffy B and EPIC studios made two epic games in less than ten years while Dennis Dyack barely made one... And the fact that they're so confident in their product reaffirms me that this will be the final product once it hits store shelves. It' just too bad. I haven't even played the retail version of Too Human and I'm already thinking of how they could improve this game with Too Human 2. I'm surprised that it wasnt great, but then I shouldnt be because when games are delayed or in production for so long (10 years) it's usually not a good thing.

awesome thorough impression...thanks!
im hoping the reason for the demo was to take as much input from discussion boards as possible before release to clean up all the bugs and trash. But you're probably right...this may be the final version...but lets hope this is an older demo thats been improved over time. I've never had faith in silicon knights...but im hyped for this game.
Question to everyone: Does the game work like an open-world with dungeons...or is it linear, breaking down each section as a stage (think SMB, level 1-3...)?

Thanks. :) I wanted to love this game but the controls held it back from awesome-ness. I'm going to play it again later tonight and see if I can get better acustomed to it. I still want to buy this game on day one despite its flaws. Like you said, I really hope this is a demo based on an older build of the game. If that's true, I'll be one happy dog when Too Human releases in August.
Well simply put, I felt this was amazing.
First I'll cover the little angle of death thing. Sure it does suck that you have to wait a few seconds for her to come and pick you up and fly away, but if they would have stuck with what happens in the game they mentioned a few times through out there videos, namely diablo. You would have to try to run back to your body without any weapons or armor :P So I am kinda thankful it was something that simple. Plus it gives you that moment to think, "What did I do wrong, and how will i counter it." Such as at the end, it gave me the chance to think to take out the shooters because they were wasting my ass as I tried to take down the troll.
Now, as for the entire demo. I felt that this game has solid game play. At first, I thought it was weird having the control stick for the attack system, but after getting used to it, I can say I am very happy it wasn't a button masher that I thought it was going to be. Being able to just hold down the stick in a direction, and continually attacking while doing that sure is a very nice feature. Also the combo build up area of effect attack was quite helpful in many situations where you feel over run. Unlike many other games with hordes of monsters attacking your such as N3, you actually can get over run, which is something I love. So you have to fight your way out. Plus the grenade launcher, and the gun play was very simple. Don't think I would play a ****that uses them commonly though, playing with the sword was by far more fun.
The weapons and armor I found mostly pertained to my character, but sadly I did come across two blue quality items that were the double swords which the champion ****can not use, I wonder if they can be traded while playing on the multiplayer mode. My only issue is with the auto salvage option. I accidently auto salvaged all of my green items that were not equipped at one point :P thankfully it was all junk.
from the demo I'd give it a 9 at a minimum. Solid voice, graphics and play.Alan1187
You make some very valid points. I too, came across some items I couldnt use and I was like darn it. I think that was Silicon Knight's way of teasing us with fabulous loot. I understand where you're coming from in terms of the angel of resurrection but it takes way too long. For an action game of this nature, it should be more like "up and atom." The angel should come down, do a resurrection spell and your character gets back up. It was like 20 seconds of un-needed respawn. I forgot to mention this but in the demo, I resurrected and went back into the fight and I noticed my body still there with the Angel coming down to resurrect me again! Lol... It's obviously a bug but it was pretty lame. It's hard to take in problems like that in a game when it's suppose to be "epic." Another thing I failed to mention were the character models. Is there some sort of cloning history to this story or something? All the NPCs (soldiers, troops) look exactly the same. Did you guys notice that? All the faces and character models were the same and they all shared the same voices. Was Silicon Knights half-assing on this game or is there some cloning to the story that I dont know of? It is cybernetics... so I'll leave that open for discussion.
any score predictions? normally i dont care but i really want too human to do well w/ scores. i followed this game, thought it was amazing and then was little let down when recent hands-on articles were written. still have big hopes for this.nahmean187
Try the demo. It's up. I predict an 8.0. And that's being generous. I'm pretty sure Gamespot will butcher up the game and the score.

Yup. And it isnt an option... You have to use it. It takes some getting use to but the string combos can be fun if you nail it.

I didn't think about the voices of the generic solders until you mentioned it. But IDK, probably just because they're generic and endless supply. The beefed up guy, and the cpt had different voices and faces. I thought they all had kinda slightly different but the same faces on the generic guys though :P. How could you not know that? It was one of the first things I knew about the game.
And I thought the game was a cyberpunk diablo...so it was awesome.
I've been dying for this game. This is my most anticipated game of 08, saying a lot with Midnight Club, Fallout 3 and NHL 09 in the next couple of months.
The demo was pretty much what I expected. I loved the depth/combat. I can overlook the camera, even though it isn't fantastic. The game is looking like it will be well worth it. 60$ will be easy come easy go to anybody who falls into the niche crowd.

After the E3 '06 fiasco, I really lost interest in it. I didn't follow any previews or things like that. The only thing that I can really remember was the Epic Games lawsuit. :?
Well hey, I'm not saying it's going to be a bad game, it's just that analog combat is a tricky thing to pull off correctly and not many games have been able to do it in the past (New Legends, Death By Degrees, Blade II), but Rise to Honor was decent and even offered counters, so.
I downloaded the demo this morning before work, but I didn't have time to check it out for myself yet.
[QUOTE="EnderSR388"]After the E3 '06 fiasco, I really lost interest in it.MM87What happened with it at E3 06?
I actually felt really bad for the guys over at Silicon Knights because of it. You could see the shame on the guys face that was demoing the game. The engine wasn't working correctly, the textures were really bad, the animations were terrible and the framerate was about 20-25. Even the guy doing the interview kinda looked like he knew the game sucked. This caused a lot of people to lose interest in the game, becasue of how bad it looked.
If you know about the Epic vs. Silicon Knights lawsuit then you know that Epic didn't give them the necessary support of the Unreal 3 engine, since they were, according to the lawsuit, busy making Gears of War.
The combat seems a little simple, maybe there is more depth to it that I can't experience in the demo. Everything was locked in the demo! You only got to use the weapons and armor you started off with. At least the skill tree wasn't locked. The story appears to be more interesting than I thought it would.
As for mounting the troll, I just counteracted is leaning then tapped down a couple of times on the right stick and stabbed my sword right through him.
What is the purpose of the two timed rooms? I it just see how many enemies you can kill in the allotted time?
The sword is pointless. Using guns is much more effective cause killing enemies is easier and you won't get hit cause your shooting them from a distance instead of using the sword with 10 enemies surrounding you. The settings and story seemed pretty good until you went to the magical forest and talked to the princess gods and then I lost all interest in this game and now I might, might rent it but buying it is out of the question. I was never that hyped up about this game anyways and now I've lost what little interest I had in the first place.MM87If you just hold the right stick in the direction of the enemies you will slice right through all of them much quicker than you can shoot them to death.
Man I just watched Too Human E3 '06 and it really was sad :PHatefish2
Yeah, I told you! They really did get screwed over by Epic if you ask me.
One of the great things about the game IMO is that you can replay it again and find stuff you didn't find the first time. The second time I played I found a hammer that did 55 damage and blue prints to make two pieces of a set. Pretty cool stuff.
I can't wait to play this game in co-op.
I thought the start of the game, I was like oh crap. This game is going to suck. I played it some more and I liked it. Specially after I started to get the controls down.
I will buy it.
I'm going to buy it for sure. I can't wait.Trickshot771
really? I mean after playing ninja gaiden I was dissapointed with the combat, and IM not sure that the rpg elements are going to make up for that. And the story didnt seem very interesting either, and I realy dislike the artistic design. But I guess it all comes down to taste in the end. But what do you like about the game? that maybe im not seing.
