I got the three red lights problem, and I plan to send my 360 in to Microsoft to get it repaired. I don't quite have the $140 they want yet, but I'm curious about this "Towel Trick" I've been hearing about. Does it work? If it does work, will Microsoft still repair it or will they say I was tampering with it?
If you've gotten the 3 red lights and your console just won't turn on anymore then give it a shot. Just don't tell MS you did it. EVER. Don't even tell US if you tried it.
Towel trick is where you wrap your 360 in a towel, covering all of the ventilation for 20 minutes. It heats up a bit and works for about 3 hours before going back to it's original status of not working. Microsoft will probably be able to tell where damage came from (If this causes visible damage) and will view it as tampering. But I guess it is my $140.
ya i was reading up on it and the extreme heat causes some components to expand which could possibly create a better connection.then it stops working when the conponents shrink and loose that connection
i got the three red lights about 1 month ago. I put my hands on the back of my my 360 for about 5 mins. it works for about 1-2 weeks before i have to do it again. If you get the three red lights press the sync and the eject button 4 times it will flash a four number code telling you whats wrong with your 360. you can find websites that will tell you what the code means and possible ways to fix it.
