From Gamespot:

Accounting for the Xbox 360's only new releases this week is a pair of downloadable titles. Before Bungie was selling Xboxes with the original Halo, it was innovating in the first-person shooter space with Halo's forerunner, Marathon. An updated version of the second installment in the trilogy, Marathon: Durandal debuts on Xbox Live this week and can be had for 800 Microsoft points ($10). Also appearing on Xbox Live this week is Spyglass Board Games for 400 Microsoft points ($5). Included in the pack are the board-game staples chess, checkers, mancala, and reversi

Marathon (mac version compared to the new version)

idk

An interview with Bruce Morrison from Freeverse also stated that the game will support 16:9 screen resolutions, high-definition output at 60 frames per second (compared to the original 30) as well as upgraded models and graphics, support for 8-player co-op mode over Xbox Live, several international versions, and a new game mode called "Survival" where the player is given a large amount of weapons and ammo and must defeat endless waves of enemies, earning points for effectiveness and taking minimal damage, with high scores shared over Xbox Live

I will get Spyglass boardgames. I must have a nice way to play chess. I'm just wondering how many people will play chess online.

Well I hope the single player is like Chess Titan that comes with Vista. 10 difficulty levels, you can change how the board looks, and you can spin the board anyway you like, you can save a game and come back to it later.

All the Halo fanboys should definitely get Marathon, I would argue your fanboyism otherwise. It almost seems like Halo is actually Marathon 4.So many things that would lead you to this conclusion like the fact that the Marathon logo is seen throughout Halo. Also in Marathon you play as a Mjolnir Mark IV cyborg, while in Halo you are a cyborg who wears Mjolnir Mark V Armor. There are more things but I don't feel like getting into it.

Is it possible to play chess without showing the video from another player? Most people can't handle the camera.

Yeah you usually can disable it. Part of the Xbox Live controls.

I already own all the marathon games on my pc so no point in buying those again im interested in spyglass board games as long as its not just chess though seeing as the title does suggest more than one game.

Yeah, I was never a huge fan of the Marathon, Doom, or Quake games.

I'll still probably get this one though.

That they did, but did you read it? Worse review I have ever seen. This is all it said: Well Doom came out the same time this game did so ummmmmmm you play Doom? Doom was on PC! Doom. We like Doom better. O and we give this game a 5.5

Yes you can download Marathon 1-3 for free from Bungie, but the online co-op, XBLA leadboards and the new Survival mode are reasons for me to buy it. And we all know how badly this game needed 60 FPS :)

why is marathon 800 points? i thought classic remakes were all 400 points? also will marathon have adverserial modes over xox live, such as sharpshooters or is it just co-op..

lastly anyone who has played the game is it long? worth the points?

I won't be buying Marathon. I'm sure it was a great game years ago but it looks crap now. I have bought old games from the marketplace but only games I liked as a kid, mostly for the nostalgia trip. I've never played Marathon before.

I used to play a bit of chess about ten years ago. I know if I went online I'd probably never win a game or I'd take months before I actually became good again. It might still be worth buying though because it's something different. I was thinking about buying Sonic and Golden Axe. Don't think I'll bother now.

I'm all for the Spyglass Board games. I've been waiting for Microsoft to finally put up some classic board games. Not to mention I haven't played Mancala since forever. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope that one of these days Scrabble will make it to XBL.

Buy Bomberman Live! before you buy either of these two offerings.
