So I just bought a vga cable and tried it on my asus 24inch monitor and then suddenly my xbox glows 4 red rings? I have played on the xbox before with component cables but I decided to switch to a vga cable to play on my monitor and it doesn't work. Why is that?
If I were you, I'd just go with HDMI. It's a sharper picture and no bs with cables. 4 red rings means most likely something isn't plugged in correctly.

Guessing the two events are unrelated? Sounds like the red rings of death to me :(

NYCbrisk, 4 red lights means the Xbox doesn't detect audio/video. Maybe it's a faulty cable?
Or it's not plugged in properly, or it's got dust or some other obstruction in the connector. I've tried removing any kind of dust and re plugging, still nothing ; (
