Ok I do not understand what's going on. I leave gears inside the 360 and turn it off. go rent a game at blockbuster (Earth defense force 2017) come back, turn on my 360, then im welcomed by a "unplayable disc" in the dashboard menu. This has NEVER happnd to me before. I didnt hear any scratching the 360 did, unless the recent cases of "scratching 360's" are silent. Can someone let me know what's going on?

Is the Disc Dirty or Scratched? Also its a rental are you getting those errors with the games you own?  Ok, there might be some Dust on the lense of the DVD drive or the DVD drive has failed.  I would try blowing some air in the DVD drive or calling Microsoft if that doesnt work.

wow i gotta send it back in. and it's a shame bcuz the 360 is just such a great console but these screw-ups are horrible  and jst ruin the MS name. The biggest coincidence is that two of my other friends got their 360 screwed up too today.

Ya man that really sucks, I personally think Microsoft screwed up somewhere in development and hopefully they get most issues fixed.  But Ya most of my friends have had red lights of death and one has DVD read issues, and it took 2 replacements to get that fixed, but good luck with getting a good and working console.

No no, see the people that manufactured the disk drive did a horrible job, the fixed the problem with the newer ones they have 4 differant disk drives in the 360s now and depending on which you have it might be for better or for worst. It is missing pins on the inside that keep the disk safe from popping out or just being put in wrong, thus it can get scratches like you took a knife to it. Repairing it probably won't fix it, the 360 elite is suppost to come with the best drive so far. Anyways I had the same problem, my 360s disk tray acts up all the time, sometimes when I press the button it doesn't come out untill the 5th press. Anyways its no problem, nothing you can't solve. Also to the guy above, they don't repair your console, well sort of, they give you one that is already repaired if available. So when your 360 gets switched off with another, you might get a better one than the one you had originally.

my friend's 360 has been doing the same thing.  whenever he put any game into the console, he would get ''disk unreadable'' and called microsoft support.  they told him that there was a gears of war update that broke his 360, but the thing is he hadn't played gears of war in a month and he never got the ''update'' that broke his 360 and now he must send in his 360.

The operative word being "might". When my first one crapped out, the one the sent me back crapped out one month later. I want to see how this one they are sending me turns out.Â
