I know itll be running at 60fps but the 1080 claim is yet to be confirmed, so bloody hard to tell on the 360 with all the cheating.

well bungie and ms kind already lied about halo 3 running at 1080p, and they were even bold enough to print it on the box. it's not even close to running at 1080p, but personally, it still looks pretty sharp to me. its kind of hard to tell which games are 1080p by listening to the companies, unless youre actually playing it and paying close attention.

It looks kind of bad around the edges of objects IMO(Halo 3), but it could just be my monitor?

1080p, well I don't really know. I agree with everyone else, Halo 3 is far from 1080p, the graphics are "good"... but even in my father's Samsung 1080p 15,000:1 contrast, the game has lots of jaggies.

i dont know why halo 3 has 1080p on the back of the cover :D i dont even know why it has 720p... its not even high definition, it runs at 640p which is enhanced definition and it is upscaled... yes i looks amazing and its a great game (just beat it yesterday) but i dont know why microsoft and bungie put false information on the back does anyone know why?

Its got bad aliasing, its because they use 2 frame buffers at a low resolution to get the lighting as good as possible, but it can be upscaled to 1080p, but even then its still going to have some aliasing problems.

Though I have an admitatedly limited understanding of HD, if I understand correctly, most games actually run at 720p and upscale to 1080i/1080p, and that no 360 game really runs at 1080i/p.

Please correct me if I'm wrong

You are basically right, but some games are natively 1080p, so they are not upscaled, they are true HD.

I'm pretty sure that if we know such games like Virtual Tennis run at 1080p, then if a major game like alo 3 ran at that, we'd certainly know about it, it would be something to advertise and such. Despite that, up until now so many didn't know 1080p on game cases only refered to upscaling output. But that didn't stop people from claiming Halo 3 was 1080p when they got early copies and tested it themselves. Which begs to question, how will we ever know when we have yahoos that come on this forum and can't tell the difference between something as low as 640p with real 1080p. As there were plenty like that with Halo3 until finally the news came out.
