Does anyone know where I could get an update for my xbox 360 so i can play metal gear solid 2 from original xbox on it. Any help would be much appreciated

Just pop the game in and if it's Backwards Compatible, you should be prompted to download a Game Update. If you're not prompted too, it means it won't run at all
