I just bought a 32" LG LH40 LCD 1080p.. Im using it for my 360, and it really doesn't look that good, some of the games I play look kinda pastel like, and there are a lot of jagged edges, TBH my older CRT looked better.. Is there something im doing wrong here, I switched my 360's setting to 1080p. I don't have a 360 with an HDMI port so I can't use the HDMI cable with it. I want to get a newer 360 with the HDMI port so I can use the HDMI cable, will using this get rid of the jaggies and make it actually Hi Definition or is this some kind of joke..? It looks kinda blotchy in some places too, especially around the Xbox symbol in the dashboard, the X, Y, B, A button symbols in the dashboard, it just looks awful, I know my TV can look better than this because it does 1080p.. Really frustrating me because I paid $1000 for it..

A.make sure you are using the cables that are red, green, blue, red and white

B. make sure you have moved the switch on the plug to HDTV

c. make sure you have set your 360 to 1080p on the 360 dash board itself

d. remember that there are exactly ZERO xbox 360 games that run in native 1080p save for maybe a couple that i cant think of. 720p or lower is the sweet spot for gaming right now for both great visuals and great frame rates. In fact games like CoD 4, Halo 3, Bioshock and Mass Effect all run at or just below 720p natively

Yeah, as the above poster said, component cables have two red plugs. One for sound, one for picture. Make sure you haven't got them mixed up.

The block that plugs into the back of your 360 has a switch on it. Make sure you've switched it to HDTV.

Not all tv's are good at displaying 1080p over component. It might be a good idea to drop it down to 720p. Most people can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p on a 32". If 720p looks like **** then you do have a problem.

Another thing you could do is try your 360 on another HDTV and see if it looks better. If it does then your tv is the problem. Try adjusting your tv's settings to make the picture better.

Looks likke a recent set so I would say it'll take 1080p from component no problem you have most likely just left the component on SD setting by mistake.

If not the case then just drop the 360's setting to 720p, wont be any drop in quality since 360 games are only in 720p anyway, even in 1080p what youre looking at is 720p upscaled to fit the screen resolution a bit better

plus 1080p on a 32" TV seems a little superfluous

I use a VGA cable for my 32" inch LG 1080p HDTV.

I tried the component cable, but the VGA seems te give a much better picture.

So I recommend buying a VGA cable (the ones that are used hooking your xbox 360 onto your pc monitor).

Yeah, its odd on my TV. I noticed the same things as the original post, where theres lots of jaggy lines and strange distortion around text like the sharpness is turned up too high (which its not, it looks the same on 0, just more blurry). This is using HDMI, however if I go to my TV settings and change the NAME (yes, the NAME) of the input channel to PC (not the actual input), it switches to a MUCH cleaner picture (the same sort of picture I got when using my Xbox on my old CRT monitor with VGA cable). Only problem is it mutes the sound because It tries to send it through the PC input channel then. I can't use my VGA cable on my Xbox now because I've got my PC plugged in there, but I've just learn to deal with the jagginess of HDMI. Ironic how the really old input gives such a cleaner picture than the cutting edge one.

I think the moral of the story is don't buy LG HDTV's.

I think you might have been expecting it to look better than it could.
